thought i’d post incase this helps anyone else.

I spent the last few days soul searching and going forward and back between the two systems, recordbox dj and traktor.
I was leaning more towards Traktor, mainly due to the fact I could double it up for the ipad app. But what you said about workflow kept me from making the final move. if i’m honest, i’m not one for lots of preparation before hand and just could not see me sitting there sorting out loops and cue points before hand. but having tried traktor before I knew how easy a programme it was to use for beat mixing with it auto syncing the beats as well as matching the bpm’s

With that in mind I decided to download the rekordbox dj demo. And I’m glad I did as I was surprised how easy I found it to use.
It seems you have to manually sync the beats, but to me that made it feel more like i was in charge and not cheating.
I found cutting up, loading cue-points and remixing on the fly quite easy, and felt it more in the moment by preforming it live.

So for me i’m going to go with rekordbox dj., i’m going to start with a small budget controller, probably the ddj-rb so I can fully master all the basics

On a side note, i’d be interested if you lot ever decide to do a ninja series for rekordbox dj.

All the best and thanks again for your help

Thank you for your reply, very informative and given me more to think about.
I think it’s edginging towards prioneer, as not really one for loads of prep work.

how do the two systems handle recording for mixtapes ?
