ParticipantMeasure it? Seriously, if google won’t tell you the answer, get a decibel-o-meter, stand 1m away (the standard distance) and play music loudly enough that the amp is pretty much peaking.. Then it will give you an answer… 🙂

ParticipantIf you want to use a DVS setup (Digital Vinyl System) with Serato, you will be absolutely fine if you use an SL2/3 as an audio interface instead of the one in the TM8.
To do this, simply connect both to your laptop and set serato to use the SL2/3 instead of the TM8 for the DVS, and you should then also be able to send audio out through the TM8, meaning that you wouldn’t lose any functionality of that unit.. 🙂
I’m not a Serato expert (That’ll be Terry_42 on here..) but that should work fine – its getting the audio out again through the TM8 that might be tricky. It will definitely work though – despite what DJ Spars has said.. 🙂

ParticipantA pair should be alright for 100 people – but if you can then I would hire the sub as well.
What a sub does is it produces all the lower frequencies instead of your tops, letting them focus only on the top range of the audio spectrum instead of all of it – meaning that you get a much more even frequency response and a lot more volume for not much more…
I wouldn’t say that you need one – but a system running at 2/3rds power always sound better than a system in the limiters… 🙂

ParticipantWin 8 (and 8.1) is absolutely fine for DJing – I have used win 8 since it came out and have never had any issues – I wouldn’t go back to 7..
Have you checked that the USB drivers are up to date for your laptop? That could be causing it..?

ParticipantThe amount of pitch adjust is adjustable in VDJ 8 – and i think 7 too.
Have you got the “cue/pfl” buttons turned on when you don’t realise? If you are hearing the mix and the pfl signal is could sound off?

ParticipantTo import a library, simply open up iTunes whilst holding down the right key (Option for Mac, Shift for Windows) and then click “Choose Library”. That should work..

ParticipantFrom memory, Denon controllers tend to have a split-cue function..
I wouldn’t recommend it for use with Traktor though – NI pretty much only support their own hardware nowadays..

ParticipantThe problem with the beat gridding (and hence why sync won’t work) is due to the software, not the hardware.
Another controller won’t fix your problem.
Serato is generally better than Traktor though – Traktor struggles on anything that has a bpm change in it or isn’t EDM…
The solution (whether you like it or not) is to do some track management – go through, tweak the tracks, every track. It will take a while (It took me a few days solid when I rebuilt my track collection earlier this year..) but it will mean that everything works.
If you can’t be bothered with that, you could of course go old-school and beatmatch with pitch sliders and your ears.. I’d say that’s harder work though.
Get it done, then you only have to do it on new tracks to your collection..

ParticipantI know what you mean – new vs old – I keep discovering tracks that are “new to me” but other people recognize..
Not a clue about the club scene (I DJ in a very niche venue – defo not a club lol!)

ParticipantWell, if I’m allowed to then here’s my 2nd for the week – an actually new track this time!!
Track: Preach
Artist: M.OLove this – Little Mix esq vibe but a bit groovy..
bob6397
ParticipantNice.. Not my favorite style/genre perhaps, but I can appreciate the track…
I will continue to try to not break the “Only 1 track” rule… 🙂

ParticipantOkay… You have 2 options. 1 is to attempt to copy your entire iTunes database over to your mac. This will (probably) create errors and be a lot of effort to make it work right. The second is to simply create a new iTunes library, copy all your playlists over (tedious process) and then re-sync any other apple devices you have to the new library. Neither works that well – when I transferred everything over to my Mac, I used the first method and it worked pretty well for me.
Instructions for Method 1:
1. Go to iTunes on your windows laptop. Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced. This will give you the file path of where iTunes has stored your music. If you have the boxes underneath (“Keep iTunes Media Folder Organised” and “Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library”) ticked, then your music will all be in that file path. If it isn’t, then the song files may be anywhere on your hard drive. If you haven’t got your library organised, tick those boxes and click “Ok”. iTunes should then copy all your tracks into one place on your hard drive, making it easier to transfer.
2. Once it has done that, connect your Mac and PC onto the same network. Copy (using the windows laptop) the entire directory into the “Music” folder (or wherever you want) on your Mac’s hard drive. This will also copy all the iTunes library data with it – all your playlists, the database etc.
3. Go to your mac. Close iTunes completely (right click on the logo, Force Quit) And then launch it up again whilst holding the option (alt) key. Click “Choose Library”. Go to wherever you stored the iTunes data from your laptop and then select “iTunes Music Library” (or “iTunes Library if that doesn’t exist).
4. It should open up – try playing a track. If it gives you an error message (it probably will), it will give the option to find the tracks. Navigate to the files and it should then auto-detect the rest of your music library – it may take a while.
5. All done.
Instructions for Method 2:
1. Same as above.
2. Copy the “iTunes Library/Media/Music” folder from wherever it is stored on your hard drive to your mac’s music folder.
3. Go to iTunes, go to File -> Add to Library. Select the music folder on your mac. Let it take ages.
4. (Can be done whilst stage 3 is chugging) Go to iTunes on your Laptop, go to your playlists. Select a playlist you want to transfer, go File -> Library -> Export Playlist. Repeat for every single playlist in your library.
5. Copy all the playlist files to your mac. Go to iTunes -> File -> Library -> Import playlist. Select the playlists (it might let you do them all at once, I’m not sure. If it doesn’t, do it for each one in turn..).
6. Re-sync every apple device you own to the new library – it will wipe all the media off them and put it on again in the process.. Takes a while.
That should work. Choose your method, either will take a while. Apple have not made it easy..

ParticipantWell you would gain 4 deck control, a bigger control surface and not much else, and lose the build quality, the materials and the compactness of the MC2000.
Your call.
Neither is particularly up to date with current controller features (Sample pads/Serato Flip/Traktor Remix etc..)
bob6397
bob6397
ParticipantNot currently with the DJIO – whilst Mixx, Traktor, Cross & Virtual DJ work without limitations when it comes to getting audio out, Serato either has to be used with a certified controller (many examples out there), certified mixer (with a soundcard in it) or a certified soundcard (at the moment, only the Rane SL2, SL3 and SL4 are listed on their website – although I am fairly sure that the Denon DS1 is also compatible – https://serato.com/dj/hardware/mixers-interfaces).
Without a certified bit of hardware connected, Serato is limited to just 1 deck along with various other limitations – making is useless for DJing live with and pretty much only good for prepping your tracks..
Hope that helps,
