MemberI have been djing for about 2 years..
I have 255 songs at my disposal that I know really good.
It works out for me.
I do 3 to 4 hours once every 2 or 3 weeks.
I find that IF I look to much I get ahead. I only use beatport and djcity. Dj city usually just covers the top 40 for me.

MemberI like the idea of in-ear monitors, but like stated already, you can’t take them out.
I can see myself getting lost inside them and forget that it might not sound as amazing on the floor as it does comming from the in-ear.
I sometimes do this with head phones, so adding the trouble of taking them in and out could add to that.
I had a surgery performed on my left ear to repair cauliflower ear that I got form wrestling in high school and taking on and off the headphones all night makes my ear pain.

MemberI went from traktor s4 to cdjs. I find it way more fun.
I got “too caught up in the medium” to actually dj when i used traktor.
It takes a while to get a cd wallet going and annoying when you need to reburn, I just have each cd saved in a folder and when i need to reburn i just drop it into a playlist in itunes and bam its done.
This week I’m adding key and bpm to the slips as well as hi hat pattern. Its like a portfolio to me. I love it.
CDJ’s are great. If I were you I’d look into the denon s3700. They look great and you can get two for the price of one cdj-2000. They have usb too.

MemberIf there are speakers plugged into different wall outlets than the mixer there could be hum.
It happened to me once, You need a ground-loop isolator to plug between the RCA’s between mixer and soundcard.

MemberI’m pretty sure you can run the soundcard of the S4 mains into a free channel and select digital for the input it will work fine.
mind you, everything will be done on the s4 and just run the with the channel fader open and everything flat.
I’m not sure how you would use both to control one traktor, but i think this will help you.
When I plugged into a djm-800 thats what I did and it was fine when I owned the s4.

MemberWhy don’t you try nudging the track either way until your 100% its out and then speed it up until its going to fast. Do this back and forth.
I find this works well.
Dont worry about software being accurate to 0.00. Just let it ride.

MemberWhen I don’t wanna play I don’t.
Get another little project on the go for when you run a bit tired of it. When your ready you’ll go back.
You grow the most after take a rest and expand on your recent experiences.

MemberI use sync
to wash dishes…
No really.
I use sync all the time. As long as the beat marker is off to the right start I usually don’t run into problems with it. However, I do see a high important for jog wheels in this situation to correct any beat grid problems.
I mean the big deal about beatmatching isn’t the actually process of beatmatching thats important its the ability to notice the slightest of pitch variations. You can still develop that skill while the sync button is used you just have to use your ears.
If you fail to do the proper prep work with sync or without sync its going to be a disaster no matter how you look at it.
Its not about Djing a perfect set, its about being competent in your mixing. You can make 100 mistakes as long as you know how to correct them the right way.

new: “house music” on the radioRyan Leo
MemberI have a workflow similar to bartboy’s method:
I’m pretty much mixing 2 decks at once but I have the sample decks to copy parts of tracks that I want to use to mix and then mix from the sample deck.
This frees up the current deck for a new track.
Its still something new I’m working on, I dont even have the mappings completely satisfying yet.

MemberI pretty well didnt have a bloody clue what was going on in the world of djing when I started.
I was having alot of parties at my house and attending alot of parties.
There were a couple hands that used to put music on that very few people besides them wanted to hear so I started regulating the tunes being played.
I started off with a ADJ8, Traktor scratch pro, and a SCS 3 System from stanton.
I got a controller cause I thought it was the new way to do things and that I have purchased something that would have been popular for me to use. I was wrong. I also attempted to spend as little money as possible on a setup and I was also wrong about that.
I have since purchased several devices to use to DJ and if I had my time back I probably would have got a turntable setup or something, but oh well. Im on the S4 and X1 now so I’m pretty happy with that.
So it recap:
I was just researching on the internet and following my results. Which, like anything, was subject to the time I was searching!
