Not quite sure I understand you answer Kent. You say that the iTunes playlists are updated – which I took to mean that any references are matched to the remaining single version – but then you say that the iTunes playlist entries are removed? Have you actually done this and seen the results or are you just taking an educated guess?

I really would like to hear from someone who has done the process with either iTunes 10.x or TuneUp to discover what happens please before I take the plunge.

That was really helpful, thanks for finding that. I’ll work my way through and see how it improves things.

    P.S.

    Trying to think logically (difficult!)…

The first control in the chain is always going to be gain and anything further on will be volume?

I think I’m beginning to get my head around this – let’s see if my understanding is correct.

The VDJ controls are amplfying the signal from min to max (known as gain control?) whereas the mixer is in fact simply controlling the volume from min (shut off and no sound ) to max (full signal as it comes from the sound card).

OK. Now if that’s correct what is the difference between the individual deck volume controls and the master output control on my DJ2Go controller? Are the indivual deck controls gain rather than volume and the master output a volume control? The manual describes all 3 as volume.

Why does this all have to be so complex? Or is it me just making it so.

Yes, I realised that might be the case. But I’m a techy, need an explaination, type of guy and wondered if there was a sound engineer out there who could explain what’s happenning and why. That would help me get the sound to the best quality possible.

The couple wanted Sugar, Sugar by the Archies then I followed up with Love & Marriage (Frank Sinatra) and When I’m 64 (The Beatles). They were delighted.

    🙂
I was thinking of something a little more gentle and soothing!

Found the Chris Hülsbeck track btw Terry_42. I like it, but not suitable for this one.

    Any other suggestions please?

Just a quick update on this.

I also email the DJ-Tech team to see if they could help – not even a ‘sorry but’ reply. Not great customer service.

The VDJ forum guys started well but it’s frittered away despite my giving them every bit of info they asked for (and more).

Never mind I’ll send it back to Maplin and try mapping the keyboard to see if I can make life easier.

Yes it does ship with Deckadance but that doesn’t handle video which I use a lot. Did begin with it a while ago but moved to VDJ for video and also better autoplay handling which I use for some events.

VDJ has not crashed on me (yet!). I use it on 2 laptops – the second is running a a constant backup in case of problems – and both are running Vista. If I get VDJ running first and then plug in the controller, VDJ freezes to be released immediately I unplug the device. The problem is the same on both machines. I ran VDJ’s MIDI Tracker routine and is shows that the laptop is receiving commands from the controller.

If I plug in the controller before running VDJ, the software hangs on the load sequence at ‘Initiallising devices’.

It’s a great shame as otherwise it appears a great little tool for minimal cost.

    You are never too old!
I’ve just signed up and I started at 59, 2 years ago.
OK I don’t do hip/hop, rap and the like but I am doing it and loving it too.
Find your niche and work at it.
