    I normally use MIK to analyse my tunes before importing them into Serato. The key appears in the key column but I also add this to my comments column too. I have nothing to compare them again, but I thought that I would re-analyse the tune BPM and keys I am preparing for my latest mix, as part of the new Serato update, and found that about 50% now show different keys. So I am a bit confused as to what is correct? Any ideas?

    ScottoRobotto – Thanks for input. Good point about building a core following. I want to move away from securing acts that will just bring the masses, I want to get DJ’s / MCs in that fit the night I am looking to run but fear the less known DJs will not pull in the crowds. It’s a difficult one to judge as most of the people at the last event were there to support the local DJs. I also liked your comment on the guitar signatures. Maybe I could get something similar going for all the acts who have performed on the night, although I don’t think signing some DJ memorabilia hold are much merit as rocker signing a guitar?!

    Arnaldi Rizki – Thanks for the poster link, ill check it out. Want to create my own for future but am keen to get something turned around pretty quick so I can get the promoting it. Got a few other local events coming up over the next month or so that I need to be hitting. Other then social media, any ideas where to advertise?! I need to try and tap into the local communities / groups that are into this sort of thing.

    What’s your views on approaching over promoters to help spread the word in return of the same. Given the nights raises the profile of Drum & Bass in the area and should have an impact on there events too?? Cheers

    Thanks guys for taking the time to respond and explain.

    It will probable all depend on when (and if) get my first set and whether the software is available.

    I do love my controller, but also like the fact that you could potentially rock up with just your laptop.

    Decisions, Decisions…It’s nice to know there are a couple of options available anyways.

    Thanks for the heads up. I’ve just read the blog on Serato.
    I’m going to check with Serato to see if I have the licences for the DVS system and/or Serato DJ as I moved from the DVS system to the DDJ-SX controller, removing the mixer from the equation.
    Forgive me for my ignorance, as I’m just starting to get my head around this all, but if I do get the Club Kit, does it mean that, subject to the club having a compatible mix, I can access and use Serato (including all the cue points etc..) directly through the laptop using the CDJs and mixer?

    @Terry

    Nice one, thanks for the words of advice. I always thought that it would be considered a bit of a nuisance parking up your controller in what could be an already cramped DJ booth. I guess you just have to find a spot for it and crack on…
