I will upgrade my DJM when I find a good deal. For now it will do. Thanks for the advice!

ParticipantI didn’t end up getting it. I got the DJM 400, slightly better than the 350. The only thing that the 350 is better at is being able to record using a USB which is pretty neat.
And for CDJs I got myself the 850s. Spent a couple of hundred bucks extra.

ParticipantI didn’t end up getting them. I’m looking to get 2 CDJ 850s ($1200) and DJM 400 ($350). Is that too much for 850s? Couldn’t find anything cheaper. Cheapest was $1100 but the guy lived 3 hours away lol

ParticipantI get your point, but if your boss (the person that pays you) wants you to make people dance, then that’s your job lol If it’s a personal mix, then do whatever you want. I don’t do mixes to make people dance, I do it so they can listen and enjoy the music however they want.
And if you post a mix with your “feelings” put in it, no one will guess because everyone interprets music differently. A song might mean one thing for me and something different for you.
The only time I would understand if a DJ would play whatever he wants is when the crowd pay him to go see him specifically knowing what kind of performance he’ll give.

ParticipantYou need to know your music better. That’s all. Remember your music, how it ends, how it starts, when the drops come in or end.

Buddy of mine is a car salesman, I never got a free car from him, but he made me a very good deal on my car…
I don’t think you can compare lmao He doesn’t own the cars, and they’re worth A LOT more than your DJing services.
If it’s my best friend, a small gig that I don’t need to really focus much, for free. If it was a wedding type of gig, I’d charge for sure.
For other regular friends… charge at a discount price, unless it’s for a good cause (for sex)!Robby Luca

What he said ^^^
Depending on what the event is and the time you start at are key factors on how you should start your set.

ParticipantI’ve heard a DJ stop a track for like 5 seconds… but I think he pressed the wrong button, because it happened twice, don’t know how.
Anyways! At local clubs, I’ve never heard a DJ stop the music to switch with someone else. But I agree with Chuck, if there’s a fight happening, stopping the music would be appropriate.

ParticipantI don’t mix using softwares.

Wasn’t getting into discussion about that at all! I’m saying if he does his job, whether or not he uses a sync button, who cares. Wasn’t talking about what his job is or should be.

ParticipantThere’s a lot more to DJing than beatmatching. Clearly the better DJs know how to beatmatch without a sync button, but it doesn’t matter in the end. What matters is that the DJ does his job and not be boring or lame.
