    Can you do a clean build of Windows? Does the problem only occur with the S4 plugged in? Maybe switch to the 32bit version of Windows as you only have 3GB RAM anyway.

    My experience has been that OSX just handles audio a lot better than Windows. I used to use a Dell laptop for Ableton DJing and got frequent drop outs in the sound – CPU and RAM usage was low and I just couldn’t get to the bottom of it. Windows seems more likely to drop out the audio.

    When I eventually upgraded to a Mac I didn’t have any trouble at all. One time Traktor’s screen locked up but the music carried on playing regardless and eventually the screen came back.

    My first mix was made using a double tape deck – no mixing whatsoever. However there was a lot of skill in pressing the Pause button at exactly the right time so as to get it on the beat.

    As impressive as this is, you could only do this for short stints I would have thought. Try doing that for 3 hours! Repetitive Strain Alert!

    It does inspire me to do more with my setup though.

    Well I’m going clubbing tonight and I am hoping I see some DJs using laptops! I want to see what they can do and have a nosey around at their gear.
