    My take with Beatport or Juno is focus on record labels and artists that I know – add them as favourites so its easy to find out when they release new stuff.
    Also look at the “other people that bought this also bought…” sections, so you can see what other people with similar tastes to you are also buying.
    I don’t bother with the genres on Beatport or Juno as they are rubbish – their definition of, say, progressive house is very different to mine.

    I had some bad experiences using Windows whereby the sound would keep cutting out. Couldn’t figure out what it was, so I saved up for a Mac and have never had trouble (using the same sound card too).

    Anyway once you get your laptop stable don’t make any changes to it. The worst thing you can do is start tweaking it the night before!

    I was at university for 4 years and I swear the local nightclub (run by the union) played the exact same set every Saturday night. The music never changed!
    I know they’re students but sheesh buy something new!

    I use Beatport to look for stuff and then buy it in JunoDownload if they have it

    I first got into dance music when I was about 13 years old and I didn’t go clubbing to take anything until 19. Although I was always into the music, taking an E really brought it all together. It kind of “joined the dots” and I understood why dance music is the way it is.
    Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise dance music is 100% influenced by illegal drugs – mostly E. Just ask Oakenfold, Rampling and Holloway; they are largely responsible for bringing the acid house scene to the UK when they discovered it in Ibiza. And guess what? They were taking E.
    Despite this, you CAN enjoy dance music without drugs – absolutely – but in terms of influence they are very closely linked.

    When I’ve seen bad DJing it has usually been in cheesey Top 40 style clubs. By chance one of the DJs will play a tune I like, but only plays it for like 1 minute and then whips it off just before the good bit starts. THEN he follow up with RnB – I literally want cleave open their heads with a spoon when that happens.
