The crossfader just has a mind of its own, and it doesn’t really fade other then cutting out one channel when it is completely to the other side. Being in the middle is no different then being a small bit from the left or right side if you understand what I mean. I have a Toshiba Satellite with Windows and I ordered this computer maxed out for performance so I can’t imagine it being the issue with ITCH. Everytime i exit ITCH program it says “This program has ended unexpectadly” or something along those lines. I’m not sure what its issue is… One last question! How can I get a Mic to come through the speakers? I tried the inputs on the back to no avail.

o you can adjust the crossfader in the hardware menu in itch. as for the mic i use channel 3 in the back 1/4 plug, you got to move a button from pc to line by the eq knobs. really simple

The Corner Positioning is something that i guess is a here nor there aspect but there is no way in hell i would ever turn my sub to face a wall. Here is my reasoning…you may get more dB out of your sub for an overall louder sub…but the wall only reflects certian frequencies…and it will absorb others…now the problem with this is that I like to be able to feel that punch in my chest when im on the dancefloor, and you cannot achive that same punch feeling when 1/2 the frequencies are being absorbed with the wall.

As well another issue you face is that when your sub is at a different distance from your crowd than your speakers you get out of phase. The videos i posted below will give u a general idea of what i am talking about

If you have time i want you to do a little test…Grab your phone turn a song onto it and put it into a Metal or plastic cup. You will notice that the sound will be greatly amplified BUT you will get almost like an echo effect happening. The results are that you get a louder sound at a reduced quality as the sound bounces between the walls of the cup before it is audible to your ears.

sub woofers always need to be in one group. Low frequency sound (bass) spread 360 degree around the speakers and reflection from walls and floor kill direct radiating sound. If you separate sub woofers you add additionally problems because sound from stacks kill each other because is out of phase, you will get comb filtering.

yea im not sure that the wall will absorb 50% of the frequencies. but as I mentioned before, allot of other people attest to this method and for me, well the jury isnt out yet but I will indeed give it a try and report back

you used to be able to get away with that back in the day because you only brought like 3 crates of records, not 100 plus gigs of mp3s lol. its funny how nowadays patrons think that you have to have every top 40 hit ever! if they only would for once stand in our shoes to show how impractical that is. gosh sometimes i hate people. lol jk but seriously.

i use it in hiphop/rap mostly. i hate when i hear djs use it as their only transition method. O btw, just a little tip, I like to add an echo effect so when i back spin, just before i cut the crossfader over, ill stop the platter and ill get a nice echo out effect of that track. try it out! I totally did this by accident in one of my mixes i was recording and i was like dam that sounded good. lol

im a fellow ns6 user and had this happen to me also, but it really wasn’t a hardware problem. my 1st computer was a pc from like 2005 and the specs were just border line to run itch. had a gig of ram when they recommend 2 etc. i was due anyhow for an upgrade so i went Macbook pro 15inch late 2011 (bought it new) and I have yet to run into an issue with the computer. Now, numark supplies a pretty crappy usb 2.0 cable. For whatever reason, itch would just sometimes freeze and then not respond forcing a restart which sucks in front of a crowd. I knew it wasnt the computer, 75% it wasnt the ns6, so I swapped out the usb 2.0 cable from my buddies mixtrack pro and presto; no more issues. since then ive upgraded to an usb 2.0 with gold connections. problem solved. as far as cross fader, i bent mine upwards during transportation once and now it bleeds a tiny bit on the left side, but thats my fault. Ive called numark and the sell new tighter crossfaders for like $50 U.S. itch will act funny when the connection between the hardware and software are not in sync. Do you still have this crossfader issue? I recommend to swap out usb cords and if the problem persists, look to make sure your computer is in specs. if that checks out, contact numark, hold times are a little long but someone will answer, and have a tech help you troubleshoot it with you. this is free of charge to you. if that fails, i hope you bought an extended warranty from your retailer as I always do for electronics, and send it in if none of this helps. good luck bro!

thanks for the input guys. good stuff here. in the past ive always had my tops and sub alined in a row with sub facing out towards the crowd. but then i remembered from my car audio days that you almost never wanted to face the subs inwards towards the driver and always towards the trunk. and i found that the closer it was towards the trunk, i would get a big difference in sub out put. my buddy at the car audio shop proved this to me by testing this out in my car with an sound pressure meter (spl) meter. 135db facing the front 138db facing the trunk furthest away, and 141.5db when the subs were right next to the back of the trunk. I had a pair of JL audio w3 on a mean Memphis amp. but long gone are the days of big car bass of my youth but not the knowledge of trails and errors and wasted money trying to reach sound nirvana. and im telling you that if you google sub placement many upon many of people will tell you to put your sub in a corner with like 6-8 inches of space is ideal. 2nd facing the wall and 3rd against a wall. they even suggest for out door use (no walls) to set up your subs to be able to face downwards at an 30 degree angle (modification required). but all and all, im taking input from all sources and i really respect the opinions of you terry and Hee Won Jung. and i do by the way plan on a second sub. Again, I guess there is noting left but to do it. I promise Ill report back after that gig. I wish i could do it at home but i like on the 2nd floor of a multi-unit apartment building with thin walls. My rockit 5s are to much and i get complaints while practicing. Ill show up an hour early for this sound check guys. again thanks so much!!!!

thanks guys, some input that i didnt see on other forums out there was given here. so the overall consensus ive read is that if you have a corner near your set up, turn the sub facing the corner and it will do wonders, if no corner, then next to a wall is 2nd best and almost the worst place to set a sub up is underneath or next to your set up. im going to try this theory out and i will report back after this gig i have in 2 weeks.

im a mobile dj, so out of a 100gig macbook pro, i really only like 10% of that. when i get an opportunity to play my taste, i rock it and i even find myself throwing in a track i like when playing to the masses, but as a mobile dj, i have to deal with picky bar managers or owners or just have to read the crowd you know. but hey, ive been keeping books on my income from djing last year and it turned out to be 35% of my total combined yearly! so to each is own.
