funny thing was that since it was so last minute, and i kind of didnt want to do it but i heard wedding djs make bank, i just threw out $1000 and they bit hard. now i know that this isnt the norm, ive asked around, djs make 500 and up usually around 750 and yes they charge per event. My client just so happens to make over 6 figures and his wife was pretty well off too. i have that one suit i have in the closet so i wore that and brought two 15s with a 18inch sub. Although I did have to be on the hunt for allot of top 40 and oldies for this wedding and not all of them were in my dj pools. most were. so its allot of time you invest but look at it this way, you have your top40/wedding crate all done for the next gig. best way to gauge what other djs charge for weddings is to look at your local companies that do this i.e websites and look at their packages and what they are charging. that will give you a better idea of your local market. now allot of people do weddings as a full time job and have their own company and thats why. Djs charge allot more for these types of events. So you will see other guys with top dollar equipment like speakers, lighting and not just mobile dj lighting, im talking full l.e.d set ups that are in thousands, 52 inch plasma displaying pictures of the bride and groom i mean guys feed their families and put a roof over their heads doing this stuff so people pay up.

man i tackled a wedding as a last min thing but was rewarded with a fat pay day. The most important thing to do is to have a real good communication with the newly weds i.e playlist and the no-no playlist. In addition, the gig I did they actually got married at the hall by an “efficient” (first time i ever heard about that) so I had to do the hole 9 yards; back ground music, walking down the isle etc. I also learned about wedding structure as far as the time order of the event. For example, from 6-630 entrance music and special requested song for walking down the isle. Then from 630 to 730 would be dinner music. You cant be dropping bangers when people eat. Also I had to take into account that the audience will have 4-90 year olds (recommend clean edits) from different ethnic backgrounds so english and spanish music was a go. Man, the list goes on. Theres father bride dance so thats a specific song that then goes into bride groom dance. You have the tossing of the bueque(sp) [that flower thing I cant spell] and then the garter belt thing. So all these different events you have to have a specific song already preplanned with the couple. During these song transitions there is absolutely no blending per the couples request. Another word that I need to mention, mic presence. You are the MC and for it to flow well you need to be on the mic directing traffic, if you will. So after all the activities were done and all the announcements from the bride/groom are done, then out came the Dj in me lol. Thats when I was able to take control of what I do best. Trust me its allot of hard work and looking professional is a must. Remember you might be in some photos and plus it a wedding, so get a suit and a hair cut and shave!!!! Your not in a club, your in the most important part of most peoples lives. a bonus i was allowed to eat and drink away on the open bar. The best part was me actually getting paid. I charged $1000 bucks for 6 hours and I rocked this wedding like i’ve been doing this for years that the brides father through in an extra $500 from the family. Wow. Most I ever gotten paid for a gig.

i think Dj D-Jam did a real nice piece here on this forum on how to get gigs. Just look at his posts. Also I think this was a topic DDJT did a hole article or maybe a series on this. The main thing that worked for me is you really got to support the cause and not just show up with a demo. Get to know the scene, the promoters by name and really come out to support them. Down the line they will get to know you and then you can introduce your demo. These guys probably get hit up a 100 times a day since everybody and their grand mama baby daddys a Dj. So be proactive in it and you came to the right place to ask. People in this forum are cool and the wealth of knowledge here is 2nd to none

It is an online photoshop, no downloads, no installs, and as it doesnt have all of the photoshop features, it is much simpler to use 🙂
    Hope it was of help.

Oh, and 100% free. And if you create an account (also free) you get like an online folder where you can save your works. You can also save them on your pc.

thanks so much for this plug. super simple and effective!!!!!!

yeah you should be alright but ive been places where they were like you could only use the cdjs that they had. granted they were the cdj2000 pioneer joints but none the less, had to use house gear. besides there wasnt any room left in the tiny dj booth for my giant controller anyways (ns6). Id suggest not to limit yourself to just what you have, because, well you limit yourself lol. A simple adage i use for my dj philosophy is “adapt and overcome”. you have to be resilient in all facets of the dj world to stay competitive. just my 2 cents 😉

behringer bd215. like $220 right now. dude these speakers are powered and they sound really good, almost comparable to mid range stuff like 6 or $700 stuff. allot of folks dis behringer because they did make really crappy stuff back in the day but this new eurolive stuff is good stuff. i have 2 bd215 and their 1800proD sub ($600) which is 1000w rms. ive heard this set up one time by another mobile dj and was like i have to get it. sounds way better than the eon jbl series and for way cheaper. I use this set up at least twice a week for over a year with no hiccups. again, allot people really hate behringer but i dont know why. maybe because of a bad experience in the past but all i can say is this set up rocks. again i think its the new eurolive series that really makes the difference. but dont just take my word for it. go to the guitarcenter.com and look at all the positive reviews. i was planning on saving up for a qsc set up but my gear has already paid for itself twice over. im going to run these till the wheels fall off as they say. maybe then ill decide to upgrade, maybe not. Im a very happy customer. and to have a full mobile rig for like 1100 bucks is also a big plus. and trust me, im really rough on my gear. i dont have bags nor do i baby these things. i almost want to blow em because i got the 3yr warranty with my retailer but i cant. hard to clip, very low distortion at high volumes. I did a summer pool party once and the cops showed up and told me to put it down, I was only using 1, I repeat 1 speaker! cop was like i heard you guys 4 blocks away and i was nowhere near clipping. im telling you. best bang for the buck and decent sound and durable. but like said, look at the reviews. good luck

and btw, you have to exit itch first then power off the ns6. there is a “hang” that serato knows about but they haven’t quite figured out the bug
