It will be fine. You will be able to connect your existing soundcard to the club PA / Mixer.
Do you have your Mixtrack connected to this soundcard now and use it to provide a headphone and separate master out? If so it would be exactly the same in a club only instead of the master out connecting to your speakers / monitors, you would connect this to the club mixer.
its not exactly a pro set up / soundcard but it will work. You may want to look at upgrading the soundcard at some point but this is, as ever a personal choice.

Its all to do with the settings within Traktor. There are modifiers that you can set to do certain functions when buttons are pressed. To be honest its pretty advanced stuff, but if you do enough digging around on line you can find more info about it. Watch all the video and Ean explains what the buttons do (from 2:55 onwards)
If you wanted to increase / decrease the wet / dry you would use the S2 knob for this.

There is a link underneath the video that links to DJTT site with further info on it

This is there mapping for the Midi fighter, which you would just import into Traktor to make it work.

And what will you do with the effects on the controller and the cues on the controller if you have midi fighter?

    Thanks!

You can map the Midi Fighter separately from the S2. You can use it along side the S2 in the same way you use your laptop keyboard along side the S2, just think about it in the same way; its just an extension of your controller.

Because it is an extension, the Midi fighter would control some functions that the S2 would as well, however it is Midi mappable so you can map it to do what you want.
This video is one way to use it.

The VCI 100 is old now and a bit long in the tooth, go for the S2! You will not be disappointed by this controller, and you will get TP2 included (+ any future updates including the soon to be released TP2.5 with remix decks!)
Once you have mastered this controller you could look at adding separate controllers to complement it, like the Midi Fighter, or the new, soon to be released NI F1.

The S2 is a great mid range controller, it can do everything you will need to start with. I would advise to purchase this on its own 1st and push it to its limits. Once you have mastered it, you will have no problem including any other MIDI controllers into your set up. If your laptop has limited USBs you can add a hub in order to get everything linked to the laptop.

Use 1 piece of kit until you fully exhaust its potential. Once you know what it is NOT capable of you will be able to make a better decision as to what your next purchase should be.

I’d say 100% go for a controller. You can pick up a really cheap controller to get you started, or if you know this is something you will definitely want to take seriously, I would advise maybe looking at something more mid range like the NI S2 or Denon MC3000. You may be surprised how quickly you get to understand the basic controllers and maybe regret not getting the more mid range one.

Also I found MC3000 and VCI 100 for 500$ and 600$, is there any place they are cheaper?

    BTW
What is Midi Fighter exactly? I didn’t understand how to use it with effects and why is it good with a controller?

    Thanks!

The S2 is a great choice, great offer at the moment as well, you wont go wrong with that.

Midi Fighter is just another MIDI controller. Search YouTube for demo videos. It is normally used in conjunction with your “regular” controller and then allows you even more control over Traktor than you would get with just your controller alone. It is particularly good for cue point juggling, although is often used for much more.

Well if you can stretch another $50, Ni have dropped the price of the S2 to $450 USD but only to the end of the month.

S4 and MC 6000 are the top end controllers with top end prices. You need to decide your budget before looking at controllers. The next level down (in both price and functions available) are the Denon MC 3000 and the NI S2.
the list here http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/12/dj-midi-controllers-buyers-guide-2012/ shows the amount of available controllers out there.
Like I said from the start though – set your budget and look to what is available that will suit your needs, then try your best to get “hands on”. If this is not possible you tube has 100s of reviews to help you make up your mind.

AdamGold, post: 16680, member: 1460 wrote: Thank you for all your answers. Guess I am gonna go with a controller but not certain yet. Couple of questions:
    1. How do you work with your controller? Do you manually beatmatch or just set the bpm equal to the other song without listening and move the pitch bend until it looks right in Traktor?
    2. Do you think I should earn some money before upgrading?

    1. Personally I beatgrid all my tunes and leave Synch switched on. The reason I do this is because it leaves me free to concentrate on mixing, applying effects, looping ect. However if you are new to DJing it will do you a world of good to leave the synch switched off and learn beatmatching. If, for whatever reason the beat synch does not work one time, at least you will then have the knowledge to know what to do to make it match.
I think there was a section on DDJT about exactly this point and Phil recommended switching off synch and placing a Post It note over the BPM detection so you would not be able to see what BPM it was. You would therefore have no choice than to manually beat match, just as I had to do when I used CDs

    2. Its down to you. Like I said in my previous post, the Mixtrack is plenty good enough for DJing. I’d learn it first and gig with it if you feel up to it.

Only thing I really do is throw the song in, in the right time which is not that hard.. I feel the computer does all the work if you know what I mean..

Did you perform with your Mixtrack Pro? I haven’t, so I really don’t know if I should perform and earn some money before upgrading…

You can do the same with an S4 as you can with an Mixtrack – which is PLENTY! The S4 will allow you to do even more though, as it has more knobs / buttons / faders etc.
The thing with the larger / more expensive controllers is they give you greater flexibility (over software and over connectivity)
You will be fine with the Mixtrack, use it and see. The S4, Denon 6000, VSI 400 allow even more creativity if you need it, however for a beginner (or intermediate), the Mixtrack is plenty good enough.

AdamGold, post: 16641, member: 1460 wrote: Well I think I want to get more into things like beatmatching and stuff with the cdjs, because Traktor (for example) does it all for you..

Anyway, how many times have you performed with your Mixtrack Pro before you sold it?

Just turn off Sync in Traktor and you will have exactly the same control as you would with CDJs.

Don’t think that CDJs are better, or are “an upgrade from controllers, ’cause they aren’t! You can do MUCH more with controllers than you can with any CDJs.

I had my Mixtrack for about 6 – 7 months. I bought it as I was unsure if digital was for me or not and I did not want a big outlay if it wasn’t for me. After not having chance to get on my decks for over 1 year due to my son being born, I ended up getting the bug again after getting the Mixtrack.
Its a great entry level controller, but I needed more buttons and more control so purchased the S4.
