I remember when I started as a DJ in a club with really bad turntables the ash still burning went on the vinyl and in my panic I slapped on the vinyl, the needle went across and the arm flying… I almost slaughtered the turntable haha

    Epic!! Haha

    Here is another classic Bunyip.

Cigarette ash getting onto the record that is in play, resulting in frantic huffing and puffing trying to get the ash off before the stylus reaches the area in question! Fond (not!) memories… Lol

Then again, I worry about dropping drinks on the laptop now…

    Hi Terry,

Thank you for your kind words. We all learn from one another.

It would have been great to have such a nice community back in the day when I first started. Cheers buddy.

    Hey Bunyip,

thanks buddy. I remember those days of anxiously flipping through a sleeve of CDs or a box of records as the track was running out. Especially when turntables did not come with loops! Playlists and Itunes make it a breeze these days.

Thanks Phil. I have already sorted out the various play lists and its an amazing feeling turning up at a gig knowing that you know exactly where everything is.

I will be posting a thread shortly on some of the things I took away from my first gig in 7 to 8 years. I ended up playing there 3 nights in a row. And I will be heading back again next week.

Amazing feeling! And thank you for your Digital DJ Tips Phil! 🙂

It is pretty good and I am in the midst of figuring it out. I have been busy doing a dissertation and I have not had time to really put it through its paces.

I am currently using only 2 channels out of 4, no samples and just some FX. if you are crossing over from CDJs, be prepared to invest some time in customizing the unit to suit your preference or “feel”

Thanks Phil. I pretty much use the same effects but I was wondering what are effects like Ringmodulator, Digital Lofi, Transpose Stretch etc used for?

    Hi Vinny,

I have the MC3000 and it can be used as a 4 deck controller. it only has 2 channel faders though

The main question you need to ask yourself is whether you need 2 decks or 4 decks in your mixing? This really comes down to the genre of music that you intend to play as well.

One more thing about the MC 3000 which I have is the pitch fader. I have tune the range down to +/- 4 % to fit the physical length of the pitch fader. I assume the 6000 is the same length

I think only the MC 6000 will fit your requirements. DJ Hessler is the resident expert on Denon products.
