ParticipantThank you very much for that explanation Terry. Now I understand your point much better. To be honest I didnt take a look on it from that side. My focus whas to get as much value and future potential as possible for my money. I already ordered the VMS2, which doesnt mean I will keep it, but if I like its performance I will do. Sure all this is very new to me and I might not see some of the tricky points in it.
Thats why I asked for an explanation because I couldnt get you on this one first.Caribyo
ParticipantMhhh
I can´t see right now why those controllers should have troubles with softwares? Is their mapping not working well or do they even suck with their own software?
Just wanna understand your intentions for this opinion?
You might be right and thats why I mentioned I am new to DJing, so it is just my knowledge and my opinion so far. I just wonder a bit as I also saw these controllers recommended to beginners in professional DJ reviews quite often.

ParticipantHi Tristan,
I am also a complete noob to DJing and I had to answer the same question that you have during the last days for me. I did a lot of research which I would also advise you to do
My bottom 3 of controller s was.
1. the Mixvibes U-Mix Controll Pro 2: It comes with cross DJ Full version (thats 50 bucks u safe) is very compact but still offers a lot of features. I didnt take it because it had no XLR outs, which can be needed at some more professional occasions. Beside that it seems to be a very good controller. It costs about 199€ (dont know where you are from) and also received a very good rating on this site.
<!–more–>
2. Gemini G2V: Pretty new Controller with performance pads which you usually only find on much more expensive controllers. It is meant to be used with Virtual DJ. And seems to be ready for semi professional usage.
3. American audio VMS2: A standalone mixer (which is unique at this price) with XLR for microphone and also XLR-out. Also receives very good ratings in many reviews and it is also meant to be used with VDJ but there are also maps for Traktor and Cross DJ. I finally bought this one as I got it for the price of 169€ and I love the stand alone mixer capabilities and the XLRs.
I would also like to mention, that Virtual DJ is pretty expensive, but as far as I know you buy a lifetime license, so you will never have to pay for any upgrades again.
Hope you find sth. that suits your needs.

ParticipantI dont know why, but Serato was not really on my agenda from the very benning… though it is used by many Pros.
And anyhow: I just ordered me the VMS2 from AMerican Audio.
I think buying this stand alone mixer for 169€ (it was a special price) is a really nice deal, and it is also compatible with all three softwares I might use. Hope I made the right choice and can start having fun Djing soon ;))

ParticipantThat and the fact that I need additional hardware for Serato kicked it out of my softwarelist very early.

ParticipantThx Mr. Vintage
I totally understand, that I have to make that final choice. I just thought, that some more experienced DJs, that might have even used this gear can give me some first hand advice and your post is already helpful to me. If I really stick to DJing as much as I hope I might also afford sth. more expensive in the future. But now it is more about getting started and see how deep I get into this. So I am not willing to spend more than 300€ on my first controller. This might change in the future. Still I want that controller to have as much potencial as possible for situations that might come up to me. Just imagine if I have the opportunity to perform somewhere but I can´t because my controller can´t connect to a professional PA. If that Mixvibes Controller had XLRs I would have already bought it. But as it doesnt I am really considering my alternatives.

ParticipantThank you Marco
I am planing to use Mixvibes or Traktor Pro 2.
All of the named controller sare compatible with one software at least.
The VMS2 is right now at a very low price (169€) and if I buy a Cross DJ Version it would be about the same price as the U-Control 2… The Gemini would only work in Traktor up 2 now. But as it is pretty new some more mapping might follow.
So the question is which controller gives me the best package and also offers some future potencial, so I dont have to rebuy within the next 2 years. As I am far away from being an expert I was hoping that somebody here might see one of these controllers ahead of the others, considering quality and price.

ParticipantHi or Hallo Terry_42
I am totally with you. I dont like to set me any borders musicwise as there is so much more to discover.

ParticipantThank´s for your words Vintage 😉
@djrizki: yeah it is really great what music can do for you in certain stages or situations…. it can influence your moods and abilities so much.Caribyo
ParticipantActually I live in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
I will give you some Feedback on that controller if I really decide to use it. Everybody says its great but I wonder if one can show up with the u-mix control 2 for a small performance (bar etc.) without beeing considered very unprofessional. But I am really convinced of its capabilities and price value, as the Cross DJ software is included.
