ParticipantWould be nice though. 🙂

ParticipantI can help on this one, since I actually had the idjpro setup with Traktor working.
Three things you need for this.
1. Currently only working on mac. Although I believe a PC version is in the works
2. You need a custom cable. Which is around 17 UK pounds a plus postage and packing. So not that expensive. not bad since they are hand made. Certainly cheaper than a new controller
You need to go out to the following site to request one. Also has details on setting it up.
http://idjpro.wordpress.com/idj-pro-macbook-pro/3. The mapping for the idjpro and traktor are available from https://maps.djtechtools.com/mappings/2146
I made these as no one had done it before, so they are not perfect, but functional.Only downside is you need an Idevice (iphone / ipad) that you can plug in when you start up the IDJ pro to unlock the sound card. If you use a different soundcard you can direct traktor to that and just use the IDJpro as a midi controller.
One other upside you can put touch OSC on the ipad and make your own additional controls on it. That maybe going a bit far for some, but I did it and enjoyed having my own custom control screens.
Any problems getting this set up let me know.

ParticipantI have a Z1 and I want to get an audio2 for hooking into an external mixer.
The soundcard gives you the option to split the channels specifically to two channels on the house mixer. That is if it is a decent mixer. The z1 just gives you a stereo pair out. Which go into one channel and all your mixing is internal.
Nothing wrong with the form factor in my opinion. Sorry but easier to put in a bag and carry around than an s4.
My setup has two x1’s, an F1 and the Z1. I have 4 usb cables in a simple snake that just plugs into a powered hub. works a treat.Phil Worrell
ParticipantI would try putting on something similar to what the rock band are playing get there attention, slam a few tracks down like that keep them buzzing after the band and then gradually lower the tempo or theme of the music and see how people react. Use some classic rock tracks. Stuff people are really familiar with.
Just my observation.

ParticipantHey DJ Vintage want to add some more comment of how you think the Masterclass is going?
I have got a ton of stuff out of it. I’m not new to the industry more of a returning old hand. The course aims to go from complete starter to professional level. Helping along any one who has any issues from the start.

ParticipantQuestion do you have an ipad.If so many apps out there that you can use with ableton. Some specifically written for it. They are inexpensive. Ok you don’t get velocity sensitivity, but lets you have one way other than the mouse to input, edit and tweak your tracks before you go head long into buying a dedicated controller

ParticipantDId you see the official one that pioneer release about a week ago? There is a video on it.
Also does your controller work properly since when the unit came out there were a lot of issues with it. Although I hope the later firmware has fixed.

ParticipantI would agree with that being latency realted. also check snap and Quantise setting switch them off see if the response is any different.

Participant1. I never saw a firmware update for the technics 1210’s I used to own.
2. Go with what gear you have keep pushing the limits and see what you can get out of it before changing it. Shiny new stuff has a real bad habit of not working as it should out of the box, since the companies are under pressure to get products to market sometimes at the cost of great testing. Hence the bug fixes.
3. The millennial instant gratification model kicks in again. The only way to keep up with customer demands is to have the customers build them themselves. i.e. total developer freeware outsourcing. Not the easiest thing to manage. suffers from the two many cooks spoil the broth.
Yes we are spoiled in my opinion, but I love it. pushes companies harder to come up with new stuff. Does not allow them to sit back and do nothing.
As for Traktor being on the back foot right now, sure that is going to happen. It is up to NI to come up with the next thing.

ParticipantSo easy to go overboard with the Cue points. DJ Vintages advice is solid.(as usual)
In Traktor I also like to set a couple of loops in each track. One near the start of the track and another close to the mix out point. Like Vintage says we can use these to extend the mix in or out. These can be as small as 1 to 32. Occasional vocal drop points are good for teasing the crowd but these are secondary points 5-8.

ParticipantGetting a head butt which pushed my glasses into my face and cut me open right across the top of one eye lid. Yucky I know.
Was setting up for a gig with a so called friend. Appears that Friend owed a bunch of guys money and they thought they would collect by trying to steal the gear. It was in a pub basement with no one around. I got the kit back but knocked me back a long way.
Morale of this is be careful who you do business with.
