Great, I have learned a lot and seen a lot and met a lot of folks. Just wish I was able to have stayed a bit longer. I have all sorts of photos and videos and even bought myself a new toy to play with when I get the time. There is just so much going on and so little time to take it all in.

Sennheiser HD 25 basic edition appear to be on there way out as they were being heavily discounted at BPM.

Headphones are a personal preference item. Best to go try some out at the nearest available DJ store see what fits and works for you.

Found my new happiness with the new Pioneer HDJ-C70’s on ear monitors. Bass nice, highs good and isolation was awesome. I was trying them at the BPM show and it cut almost everything out. Just waiting for them to be released to get my hands on them.

No you are not to young to start by any means. For example check out DJ Ravine, Australian under 18 and does a lot of under 18 gigs. Some of which are in clubs. https://www.youtube.com/user/DjRavine
So it is more than possible.

Best practice is to get out there and play wherever you can. Start asking friends if you can play their parties. Maybe get together with some friends and organise a school dance or advertise in places the kids hangout. Word of mouth will get round. It is all about networking with people.

All this Whilst still doing the social media promotion Soundcloud / you-tube etc

A lot of people want to DJ in clubs but it takes sometime to get to that level. Look for DJ contests you can enter too as sometimes the prize is a set at a local event somewhere.

    Good luck.

Confused afterparty before the party…. ok Check with the organisers first. Although at that time I would say warm up set building up to the club opening would be the norm.

Well I’m going to be there all day Saturday, flying in Friday and out Sunday lunchtime unfortunately. although I may make a little bit of the show on Sunday if time allows.

Steve and Phil will certainly be there. They are running a couple of education sections at the show on Saturday and Sunday. See the BPM site http://www.visitbpm.co.uk for more details on that.

Steve along with DJ Angelo are doing a session on Saturday for scratching for controller DJ’s.
Phil is doing one on Sunday for switching to digital DJing.

Nope not strange at all. I use controllers only. In fact I don’t use jog wheels. Yeah the training wheels have come off. Can I do more absolutely. I have more controls available. So I can experiment more and spend less time looking at the laptop screen. Takes some learning the control layout, but becomes second nature after a while.

    So not strange at all

A good bit of friend emotional debate is good for the soul, also the house, the techno, the R&B, the Hiphop and the Drum and bass… helps to chill-out to…. not sure what it does for EDM mind 🙂

Halfamazing – thanks for counter response, you present a good argument there. No offense was taken. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the subject and it is an emotional topic this one. I know you are waiting for me to say but well no. As DJ’s it is up to us to lead in musical terms, you are correct in that statement. Breaking new music and leading people on a musical journey is certainly what any good DJ does. What you need to take into consideration is that without a crowd there is no DJ business, so it is a fine balance to keep the crowd happy and the music moving.

What I will say is that from the sounds of it Eliah (and correct me if I’m wrong) is DJing as a business and he got in because not only was it making him money, but he loved the music he was playing. So everything was aligned for him. Now several years down the line the two have drifted apart.

Now he is Djing as just a job and feels a little flat as the music and crowd has changed. It happens to us all in every profession. We go through patches where things do change and we feel out of control. Our response to this is different in several ways, we can either long for the good times back, or accept the change and move on. Each of us deals with these things in our own way and own time.

My advice was to simply offer something quick and simple that Eliah could do to help him exercise the past by taking an immediate action. As you say building a scene is another way of doing it, it just takes a bit more time.

Sure I offer advice, but that is simply all it is. Eliah can read into it what he will or choose to ignore it.

What I would do is play what you have to for the crowd and at home throw down your mixes get them up on the internet and start plugging away.
