ParticipantBeatmatching is one of the most important skills of DJing. It’s supposed to be done by ears and not your eyes…

ParticipantYou should’nt have a problem here if you’ll be using your S4 and your own laptop. Just simply run your RCAs from the main output of your S4 to any available channel on the 900nexus (make sure that you connect it to the line in and not the phono and also that the channel is set to digital or line out) and you’ll be good to go.

Once you’ve got beatmatching mastered manually, and know your tracks by heart, you’ll be surprised at how fast you can beatmatch 2 songs. All you need is just constant practice and patience.

ParticipantI think you did a good job bro and I also agree with the people here that although the whole gig was a bit of a mess, i did put you in a good light because you were the only one prepared.
So kudos to you my friend.:)

ParticipantIf you think you’re ready, go for it dude!
The only way to find out is if you go out there and give it a shot. Everybody starts this way, so don’t be afraid to show the crowd what you got. Playing in front of a live audience is the best way to hone your skills.
Just relax and do your thing. It’s all about having fun and showing the crowd a good time.
Hope this helps.
Good luck bro.Peps Lavina

Hey man.. That’s awesome. What bike do you ride?

ParticipantI used to have a Behringer BCD2000 which was their first controller.
Wasn’t really that bad considering how much it was. But you really get what you pay for.
Used it for less than a year, because I really missed the feel of vinyl so I upgraded to a DVS system.I suggest you look into the Xponent or the Reloop controllers. I’ve heard a lot of good reviews about these units.
So far the best controllers i’ve tried are the NS6, NS7 and the S4. A bit on the heavy side though, but they’re stable
and perform really well.Peps Lavina

ParticipantSame here, I just keep my slipmats inside one of my old record sleeves.
When I play out and the venue has turntables, I use my Butter Rugz and these mats have their own record sleeve.
Before, when I used to use regular slipmats, I just fit them in the sleeve where my control records are.Peps Lavina
Participantawesome. how were you able to monitor your tracks without your headphones?
sorry, just curious. haven’t seen anybody do this before.

ParticipantTraktor S4.
Aside from it being a MIDI controller, you can hookup turntables or CDJs since it has 4 channels.
A bit on the heavy side though, but I’ve played alongside other DJs who have rocked the club using that
controller.Peps Lavina
