So the results. Last night went awesome! When I first got there I basically played what ever people wanted if it were to be bay area rap, hip hop, dance etc. But once 10:30 or so hit I went into my dj set and I had the whole room dancing. Every now and then the bday girl (drunk at this point) would come up and ask me to change the music so I listened, but other than that I played what I felt the crowd wanting. But I did every now and then switch it back to rap for a few songs.

Anyways, After the party was stopped around 1 I started to gather my things and pack up to leave. People were coming up to me and shaking my hand saying that “finally a dj that actually plays good music”. As I was leaving people continued to tell me how good the music was and thanking me nonstop. It was actually funny that the ONLY complaint I received was that I played the “rap crap”. Hahaha go figure. Anyways, so I left with a few future gigs being ready to be lined up and overall it was an awesome night. 🙂

    Yup, Of course 🙂

Blades of Glory – Song Scene
    Tornado- Steve aoki and Tiesto
Strobe (Special Features Remix) – Deadmau5
Gravity (Original Mix) – Cool Project & Jay Jacob
Niggas in Paris (DJ Enferno Remix) – Jay z and Kayne
Zero 76 (Original Mix) – Tiesto & Hardwell
Big Bad wolf – Duck Sauce (Dada life remix)

And thanks for the feedback Carlos. On the transitions before the song breaks down, I usually do that. I know for the first song I missed it and I think for Niggas in Paris I missed the opportunity so I had to wait :(. And Yes, I totally agree on the switching before the song gets dry. I read an article somewhere though that if you switch the song before the Second Chorus it is too jaring and some songs dont hit their 2nd Chorus till later. BUT I always keep an open ear and approve on what people say to so I REALLY do appriciate what ya have to say and will work on it, thanks bud! 🙂

If of course, your branding target is “DJ who plays what the occasion demands” then go for it – its just that “usually” house, techno, trance DJs create a name that is associated with the specifif genres they play. And at least where I come from, no promoter of raves will call a guy to play if he has been associated with anything other than “rave” music – so rap might be a mistake for you.

*I grew up listening to hip-hop and rap, dont think Im saying the above because of disliking the genre, actually I do like the old school stuff like Cypress and Wu-Tang and all that*

I agree with this completely. However, I figure its a small enough thing and I will know a good majority of the people there to the point that I can just play it. I want EDM to be associated with my name however, I totally agree with that statement. But I figure also that I can also play the music I’m used to and kind of make it known thats what Im best at. For example, do a 4 on 4 thing kind of deal with EDM/Hip hop.

Exactly. She meant music like tyga and Big sean. I got a good collection of it so I should be ok.

TWIST in the situation. The theme of the party? Rave. Seriously? HUGE face palm

Thanks again Gre! So I told her Ya I would do it. I figure that I can actually have fun with it because I do enjoy the music that she wants me to play. I met her at a party this last Saturday and the “rap” she actually meant was the R&B and Hip Hop that is played on the radio. I can easily get a collection of that and use it, so it should be good times.

Plus, I figure once they get nice and drunk I can just play what ever I want. I do have this Dance playlist I am DIEING to let loose.

Ill let ya know how it goes!

Hey thanks for the Feedback Gre! Ya I totallty agree. I was attempting to use the gain and EQ as effects but the timing was off. Main issue being me using a new controller I just purchased and the syncing of it was off causing a delay! It is noticed, and I shouldent be doing it again :). Really appreciate your feedback, Thanks!

Exactly! Every single mix I make/play, I always find things wrong or things I should’ve done. Even though people say it sounded awesome, I always think of ways of improving.
