MemberI’m currently having a real consideration about this setup:
4x Reloop Contour Controller Edition plus
1x 4Channel Mixer (i.e. Pioneer DJM-700-K)Makes sense?
EDIT
No, doesn’t. The Pioneer doesn’t have a USB port for midi control with Traktor. Any suggestions?Papa Bear
MemberHey, thanks for your answer.
The Jockey 3 doesn’t unfortunately make sense for me since I definitely want 4-channel acces in the mixer section.
But thanks to your hint I discovered the Contour by Reloop and the Xone X2 by A&H.
Does anybody have any experience with those?Regards, PB

MemberLot of things to do and think off that takes a lot of time that you could save if you bought a used Mac for the same amount of money spent on that PC
Just because Apple hides all what is going on behind the curtain oh-so-well doesn’t mean there’s nothng going on.
Trust me, not everything is as shiny with Apple as they want to make you believe.
(I’m a designer, and my species keeps messing around with the mac/win issues day and night, so I am not saying so without reason.)Papa Bear
MemberTotally my experience, Goomo. Vestax really screwed up big time.

MemberI still have it but will return it on Monday, which is one the one hand only fair because after this, you know, the feeling about the unit is not quite okay, since you cannot tell whether it will fail me (or anyone else) only at home in the recording chair, or when entertaining 300 people. On the other hand it tears me apart, because the build quality is for sure very good and the layout a true joy, even the workflow with changing between the three modes and switching between decks goes fluently. But when stability and reliability is at stake, there can be no compromises (at least in this category of pricing). You can expect, for this load of money, the device to work properly without day-long T&E what the hell could be wrong, at least with factory presets, so-to-say.
I have the feeling that Vestax overstrained themselves with the task of building the “most versatile unit”, which is a pity.
I don’t want to talk bad about the device, to be fair, it could easily be a fault at my end, but I want to sensibilize other people interested in the VCI-400 that it might be a heavy task to get it working the way you want it (maybe only with TP2?)
Just as an addition, and of course, only my opinion.–
I think I will go either for the Denon MC6000, or, since I think, real four deck control would be nice, take two MC3000, or add one or two X1 to the 6000, something like that (the 3000 could use a few more buttons – thinking about sample decks).
Or take the DDJ-S1 and add something to control the sample decks, dunno. That’s what angers me the most, I thought the VCI400 to suit me the best, and it would have, if Vestax had done their homework properly (in other forums, there’s no less complaint about it… :/ ).Any suggestions?
Would be very much appreciated! -
