In the spirit of rock. 😉

PS: I’m a punk musician, and spend my time listening to punk rock, blues and world music. And I am NUTS about electronic music, nuts about deep house beats, enjoy the hell out of making them, enjoy listening to them. The two genres could not be more different, and yet in my ears, it all makes sense.

Just wish I knew what I was doing half the time, but thank God I found this place.

And here I was thinking Paris Hilton had some serious DJ Chops… 😉

Thanks so much, mate. Really appreciate the elaborate advice. I had the idea to play around with pre-mixes first, because I would shit my pants playing live with a controller at this point…I can barely string two tunes together. But it definitely makes sense to properly practice from the get go.

Let me know if you also have any advice on which loop software you think is good. This would be for making my own original tunes (I don’t play any instruments well enough to compose from scratch, so playing around with loops sounds like a great way).

    Thanks again!

    Hi Atom and DJ Hane,

Thanks for the replies and the info, super useful.

DJ Hane – I think you ended up answering my question anyway, even if my wording wasn’t clear. So thank you! 🙂 Let me know if I have understood what you are saying:

    1. If I want to mix live anywhere, I need a controller.
    2. Alternatively, I can pre-mix things at home, and create a 1,2,3-hour long (or whatever length) mix that I can then just ‘press play’ at parties or whatever. And for this, I may not necessarily need a controller.

    Did I have that right?
