ParticipantSo are both left outputs (trs and rca) kaput? If so, as a last resort, you could always do your gigs in mono. You can select mono in the settings for output routing.
Other things to check.
Goto ‘full mixer mode’ and check pan buttons.
Check output routing.
If you really need stereo, Route the output to your laptop sound card instead. (this will however render the master volume knob on the S4 non functional)NewportDJ Drew
ParticipantMixing rock is a different kettle of fish. The best trick is look at the ends of tracks. They either stab or fade. On a fade you start the new song at the point it would immediately drown out the fade. A stab finish requires precise cueing and split second timing to start the new track seamlessly. There is no beat matching in fact, beat matching is counter productive. Rock songs are incredibly selfish in that they want to be played from start to finish!

ParticipantI can’t stress enough that just because there is no one dancing that the people aren’t enjoying the music. I have had gigs that at end of the night and even tho the floor was empty that people really did have a great night and tell me so. If there is no one dancing I go into what I call ‘radio mode’. Play tunes from the 3 most popular radio stations in your area.

ParticipantI would use the wired mic. It really shouldn’t have any impact on professionalism.

ParticipantMost older wedding style music can be gotten from bargain bins in dept stores from places like op(thrift) shops or pawn shops.

ParticipantDone plenty of small parties which doesn’t bother me. 10, 100, 1000 I charge the same price. What irks me is when someone hires a venue that’s much too big for the number of guests. I see it happen all the time.

ParticipantI am hitting mid 40’s and still gig. Wife and I have a baby due in October. (my eldest is 23 and also produced 2 grandkids for me) Just landed a gig for November that is a street party that, on last years figures attracted 50,000 people. I will stop when I don’t enjoy it anymore.

ParticipantJust start. Best way is get the same song and mix it. Start it at an off beat and get it right. Perfect practice makes perfect. Use a metronome to learn the bpm. Use a piano to get the key of a track. Don’t get taught by somone else it retard your unique style.
