ParticipantI would rather DJ a night of cheese
89 and have been for a long timethan a days work in my trade (as a painter and decorator). ANYTIME!
I do my own thing by mixing what I want at home and put them online.
I also think taking some time off might help you?February 13, 2014 at 10:13 am in reply to: What's the single most important thing you've learned as a DJ? #2003313NewportDJ Drew
Participant1. People don’t need to dance to have the best night.
2. Make light of fluff ups.
3. I am the ducks guts.🙂

ParticipantUnfortunately, the lead is still unbalanced and has the 3mt limitation. To get around this properly, a DI box needs to be utilized. This then balances the signal and is the only solution if you want longer lead runs. Note this is an active DI b(needs external power), but you can get passive DI’s (just plug and play no ext power req) as well.

ParticipantIt is possible to change balanced to unbalanced. you bridge pins 1&3 which become negative, pin 2 stays as positive. Please note that you limit your maximum cable length to 3 meters and they become prone to interference.

ParticipantFor a ‘not to bad for the price’ speaker have a look at Skytec SPJ-1500A. On ebay here in Australia, new, they are $AU250(160 euro, $224 US, 150 eng pound). These are not top of the line by any means but are pretty damn fine entry level.

ParticipantI would say a huge NO to those speakers. You need to up your budget. Get powered speakers with prices starting at minimum $300 each for the mids and highs , and a powered sub starting at $500. Anything cheaper and you will be in for a world of disappointment. For this you will get at minimum 250w for the tops each and 800w for the sub. Note I haven’t used any brand names. This is deliberate as the prices I have mentioned really should get you a PA you will be happy with regardless of brand.

ParticipantMaybe see if there is updated driver? If not , maybe an uninstall and reinstall of the driver you have. I would also suggest that the ns7 is disconnected when you do this.

ParticipantSounds like your usb port is going to sleep. There are different ways to stop this. You can try from power options/*your power plan*/USB/allow suspend or device manager/USB(various USB lists)/power management/uncheck ‘allow computer to switch off to save power’.
*your power plan is the current power plan that is active and depending on pc can have various different names.

ParticipantJust use some coloured electrical tape. Wrap around the lead and voila.

ParticipantYou can access your previous versions of traktor(on pc). C-programfiles-nativeinstruments-tractor2-backup.
Run an older version and see if it is, indeed the new update

ParticipantI usually play easy going tracks ranging from 50’s to today to sus my crowd out., then around the halfway mark of dinner, throw on ‘sing along’ tracks to warm the crowd up. I cater to mainly over 35’s so my tried and true sing along tracks like livin next door to alice, brown eyed girl, sugar sugar, red red wine or if you need later stuff, lazy song, take me down easy etc. This way more often than not creates the hip swaying/’I remember this track’ atmosphere Chuck mentions and sets the crowd up for wanting to get up n boogie. My crowds tend to be into rock and top40.

ParticipantReally, you do need an active crossover and two amps, one amp for subs and one amp for tops.
Flow chart is mixer->crossover-> amps-> speakers.

ParticipantThe level/vu meters should guide you on where to set faders and knobs.. Levels start at the gain and finish at the master out. It would be nice if there was an industry standard on normalization volume of every single track and everything could be 0dB, , but there isn’t. So we as sound techs have to set gains/eq’s/faders and master volume so there is no clipping.

ParticipantCan only be done with an s4. The s2 mic cannot be routed to traktor as a live deck.
