    I was thinking more a vanilla windows cut right down to basics, maybe on another partition (dual boot)? That way your not messing with settings before gigs and you have the luxury of a normal o/s when away from gigs?

    *thinks* (very dangerous) I have this crazy idea…. would the abilty to be able to ‘boot to traktor’ where the program was actually a self contained o/s. Hmmm can you hear the gears whirring in my head from where you are? Is it possible? A cut down o/s with display, audio, sata and USB drivers, that loads traktor full screen, and hmm thats about it? That way you are always booting into a clean system running minimal hardware drivers and no bloat at all?

    Okay I have an oppurtunity to buy a macbook air, is this any good for DDJing? I have never owned mac before. So I have no idea if it’s gunna run Traktor pro 2.

    IMHO the behringer bcd3000 will do what ya want and has much smaller jogs for IF you ever need them. Sound card is built in. it also has a small footprint.

    CPU is below spec. need 2.4 Ghz. the 1545 is only 2

    it’s not so much the controller thats the issue, it’s the software minimum specs. That said Traktor min specs are 2.4 Ghz CPU, I run it on my laptop, tho it sometimes max’s out and struggle, with a 1.6Ghz dual core AMD. But there is 4 gigs of ram that backs it up.

    320kb mp3 is about 2.x MB per min

    500MB on official.fm FYI. 120k mp3=1MB per min. equiv wav 10 MB per min

    Being a ‘tradie’ in my daytime life, I will use the tool that will make my job easy, and give the best possible finish. (i’m a painter and decorator). I’M NOT MIXING TO IMPRESS OTHER DJ’S!. I’m mixing in the very vain and very egotistical hope I impress the listener. Yes ego’s get rubbed when colleagues and peers also say you are awesome, ( I love it lol). But it’s the listener, the crowd that is important! If you are getting paid for producing a top quality product then why is the HOW you produce it that counts judged more than the actual end result that you have achieved? Use whatever tools you have to the best of your ability. 8)
