In my engineering(audio) class a few weeks ago, we did a bit of side by side comparisons with dre’s, senny hd25, senny HD280. The Hd25’s won for best response. The Dre’s were OK, but way too much bottom end.
Senny’s for me have the best range of headphones.
oh and yep dre’s are marketing well and truly.
Then look at price point, dre’s are $Au499, the hd 25’s are $399. There is also a reason why pro audio outlets dont sell dre’s.

I use audacity and a decent mic plugged into the S4 (use traktor to record and audacity to master).

also as far as XLR standards go… inputs are female and outputs are male..

I don’t think it’s worth the money. You are not going to drop much further than ~50Hz with either monitor. The trick is to know your monitors and not compensate for the freqs that are lacking. (do this by listening through as many sound sources as you can and have a good reference library of tracks you know inside out).

Also, there’s something really great about raising the energy level and happiness of a room no matter what the music. Don’t deny yourself that thrill.
