You should update to the latest version of Traktor just to be on the save side.

The reason is not the soundcard, if you route mixing to external in traktor (aka use your mixer to mix) then traktor cannot record anything, also not with another sound card, unless you route some signal back to it and record from there.
So for playing digital your setup is not ideal and I would recommend getting a controller instead.

    Hey Ter
cheers, mate. You in the UK? Same time zone almost (I’m an American but in France). anyway, right, what you say is nearly identical to what my mate at the sound shop in Paris told me… thing is, that’s an investment of 300 euros me thinks… hm,, might have to sell off my dog.. *turns around* Zed, zed, come here boy

Hey, listening to the mix now… intro is so-so.. I can send you a link to a company that will have it more professional-sounding, radio-style (they cost me…. 18 euros… ridiculously cheap).

I’m not saying hey let’s pretend we’re Skrillex here, I’m just saying, let’s up prod values a bit.

I assume you’re looking for feedback?

great first track (hadn’t hard that track in years, the remix sounds good). starting with a bang is part of my philosophy too.

Are you on Traktor? You might want to look into changing latency, it skips a little as you probably heard yourself. This is a recurring issue on the mix (I encountered a similar problem on my latest mix, too).

The first mix is actually fine, by the way.

Length: I think published dj mixes should 60 minutes in length minimum. Anything less and it risks sounding like a pastime kind of thing (that said, I don’t know your objectives with this, maybe it is a pastime but I’m going to assume you’re trying, like me and many on these boards to earn a living from this).

The rest of the mix is a good blend of dance-floor ready choons, but the mixing is uninspiring. You need to stay in the mix a little bit longer (but not too long). Hit the sweet spot and stay there, that’s the ticket.

If I were you, and again, depending on your objectives, I would make my sound more radio-friendly by adding more vocal tracks. Can’t be a proper househead without some appreciation of soulful vocal house. Try also acquiring some prog house tracks, make your sound more radio-friendly (no need to sell your soul to the devil just yet though).

Oh, and one last thing: you’ll get nowhere on mixcloud.com. Ditch them like last night’s girlfriend, and move operations to soundcloud. That’s what I did. Bigger audience, and people will get to download your mix. That last part is essential.

    Hope you liked the feedback

it’s time for the NXT GENERATION

Oh I know that, thanks for your response, however. With the current set up, however, I don’t get a recording level, nada. And the reason is, I don’t have the right soundcard, at least according to someone I asked. I’m just wondering, how do I get Traktor’s recorder to pick up the mixer?
