to be honest with you its hard to get anywhere in this industry without money, firstly for software, secondly for hardware to use and utilize said software and thirdly and most importantly to buy songs.

for free software to mix with try mixxx search it on google, its a free dj software that I know a few people use it and love.
as for music, rip any music cd’s you own, A lot of us dont condone copying friends harddrives or illegal downloads so do it with music you own (because if we have to pay why shouldnt you).
for djing you do kind of need an external soundcard as ones on pcs and laptops can be fairly shit and dont allow you to listen to a song on headphones while a different one is playing, so would recommend this, I think you can get a cheap usb one for around 20 quid but wouldnt expect it to be great as you can spend upto thousands on one also.

not sure what else you want to know but if you message back im sure I can offer some help also!

Ian M, post: 5537 wrote: hey guys, I’m pretty much new in this site and I love reading all these informative stuff in the forum. Bought myself DJ2Go a couple of weeks back and this little thing is just really fun to use — specially with that price… I’m also made some tweaks on the controls and still trying to figure out how to make the jog wheels work since I’m trying to make it worked on a cracked VDJ Pro… pretty much it still a fun product

a lot of us dont tollerate “cracked” software… we are people that have saved up and spent money on products to support the companys that make them so future updates make them better… I dont pay for my software so they develop it so you get it for free!!

buy the software or dont expect help from a lot of us! its simple… if you cant afford to dj, use the trial versions… if you want to do it for a living you should be investing money into your newly found career like most of us did at the start!

try ubcd4winor Almeza Multi set or try run of a bootable os cd or usb

But rather pointless… Traktor serato and the likes have been designed to run on an average pc or laptop… Ive never had problems running mine on a standard netbook with other thinks running… People shouldnt need to special partitions on their drive unless they are computer disabled (they will blow shit up with a mouse click) if someone is capable of actually patitioning a drive they should be more then capable not to install shit every chance they get….

Either way microsoft and apple are just ripping you off so they can get as rich as possible… One think I dont like about macs is the fact the shell on all of them is the same, if I ever got one I wouldnt want to be advertising it spesh if you have to dj somewhere then take a walk to get a bus, train, car park… Because over here you can pay around 2500 euro for one which is more then a lot of people pay for their cars…. I wouldnt want mine to look like a mac to be honest….

Why is it mac v pc?? A mac is a “personal computer” :s it should be mac v windows…..

But either way… Its not what you use its how you use it… No one in the audience actually gives a shit what you use… Some might be like oo a little glowing apple but in many stores here in ireland its like an extra 1000 euro to have a glowing apple, ive been looking at sony vaios lately that will stand out more then a glowing apple (illuminous green and illuminous orange) and they come with better spec plus to upgrade to 8 gb its cheaper then the basic mac model, plus I prefare windows to use. Not too keen on windows 7 as i prefare xp but its sposed to be a lot faster 🙂

Surely knowing your system is handy, its good think to shut down your laptop and do a fresh start to get stuff out of the rams memory other then that, dj programs are built to be run on a normal laptop, nothing fancy so if you have to do everything to get it to run i suggest upgrading your laptop, like i run on a netbook with nothing done to it bar extra gb of ram and thats lasted me 2 years… No problems since traktor 2

Seiza, post: 5386 wrote: Sub bass is found most electronic genre’s. I have heard soft sub bass in house and electro, though the more stand out sub bass is within the likes of Garage, Jungle or most DnB tracks & and of course Dubstep where it is a essiential part of the track. You should research what songs have it to improve your knowledge of it, if you find it hard to pick out the sub however, turn the high and the mid’s all the way down. This will leave only the bass and everything will be clearer. To create my sub bass i just have a single sine wave that is turned down 3-4 octaves. You will want to give the sub the slightest attack time, if it is set to 0.0ms you will hear a click at the start of it so 2.0ms should be good. Sustain and decay all maxed, and no release at all.

some producers like zedd and porter robinson are adding it to electro lately 🙂 it makes the room explode with such high amounts of energy, other tracks I have I tend to add small bits to the sound just to beef them up then usually split the track into 8 different tracks bass left and right mid low left and right etc…. and tend to lower and compress the bass, doing this seems to give it more of a thumb, if it sounds too messy and doesnt gell too well I tend to add a slight bit of reverb on the mids…

its probably not a typical way of editing tracks but it seems to work if I feel they are missing something I then of course re-eq them and test on several systems including my car system before playing live… car seems to show anything ive missed and can then edit as I need to 🙂

To answer the original question which has prob been done loads but thought I would still :p, yes you can use 4 track decks 4 sample decks or a combo of the 2 , 2 x1’s or even 10 can be used.

The new features like coloured wave forms are a lot better to see whats happening they make audio changes a lot clearer and I didnt even notice the differnce untill going back to traktor 1 two days back, the yellow just looks messy.

The loop recorder can be a nice addition, I personally only use two decks due to screen size so its nice to be able to throw a loop in the recorder and let it play then play two new songs.

Sample decks Ive only really played with, waiting for a bigger laptop to try these out proper but they look like it could be fun, some ableton like shiz making mashups.

As far as the new effects go they are not that great but some people might find a use for them.

The user interface is a nice richer looking colour and looks a lot more professional.

As for analizing tracks, traktor 2 after the first update does a lot better job then traktor 1 it gets the first beat off sometimes which soo many peoplemoan about but to fix that all you need to do is set a load point.

Hope this helps in peoples decisions, regards, Steven.
