me too this sounds really good would be nice to get a mix of various genres and see other peoples styles, we have to be aware of audio degrading, the later option would be better, to play the end of the mix and mix in your first song then join them in a daw so by the time the last person gets to it the first mix doesnt sound too shitty

I like scratching on my ipad 😛

    pros:
    Portability
I can be up and running in 1 min if need be
have a collection of over 20,000 songs (purchased) that caters for most crowds
my setup can be as simple or as complex as I want (1 controller or 5)
I can and do mashup songs on the fly
I can make you a mix cd whilst I play
my backup laptop cost 250euro and has my whole song collection on it (compair that to 2 cdjs and a mixer and all the songs on top plus wait … cd’s)
there are loads more pros but this is all I can think of soo far

*** I can setup before I leave for a gig including loading tracks onto decks A and B close my screen and it goes into a batteryless sleep and open it a week later and rock if needs be 😉

    cons:
oh no mr sync dj (i tell people im a controllerist not a dj these days)
you should really learn to use cdjs as I think it helps you as a dj
crashes although traktor 2 is stable as hell, traktor 1 used to blue screen if I unplugged a controller from it
traktor 2 doesnt do this although if I unplug sound card there is no sound (oooo I can add to the pro’s ***)

welcome dave 🙂 you were talking about your controller and saying its not pioneer, to be honest as a dj playing in Dublin a fair bit its a standard site for me to see the pioneers and techs pushed to the side so someone can fit their controller and laptop in :), the omni in my opinion is a very good controller and you can see in my pic im a fan 😛 you should check out dj storm eagles mapping on google if you havent already it is one of the best out there and it very easy to make it work how you want :), at the end of the day its not about the gear you use but the sound that comes out of the speakers, half the audience dont care how the sound gets there nor even know how it works, its just other djs and the ones that judge will be the ones in 5 years not getting gigs because it will be “what do you mean you dont have any cdjs for me play my cds on, what do I do know?” 🙂 and house is a good genre to go for 🙂 I play electro house and dubstep with a fair bit of prog mixed in between and love it, keeps any audience jumping around all night no matter what the songs are. thanks to the amazing 4×4 beat 🙂

Haha it was hard trying to explain it, basically dont sync the first song, but sync the rest to it, otherwise click on the metronome button beside fx deck 1 and see what the master tempo is… 🙂

As long as you dont fudge up your machine it will be good :), I looked into it before and turned out stuff like wifi, touchpad, keyboard even backlight and cd drive can stop working due to incompatable drivers

Have you tried playing a deck first, then syncing the second deck to that then play the second, load song in first and play first deck…. That way deck b syncs to deck as already playing tempo, and so on

I mean the hackintosh, because with one, your windows laptop has to work a shit load harder to run osx through windows and may put a strain on any computer

I think most hd are reliable, in my experience ive never had one crash, and yeah the look of a mac is nice but Ive got to the stage when I see an amature dj play I just immediatly think “sheep” just following the crowd most will never push it to its limits. I think my laptop looks fairly similar to a mac screen and keyboard-wise but was cheaper and nicer 🙂

Macbook pros are going out the window lately, seen soo many top djs reverting back to windows since windows 7, I lke to consider it just a brand name like nike to be honest :), they are for the people that are scared to get there hands dirty with settings and customization 🙂 but thats for another page

this should be the other way around in my opinion (not fighting this is just how I do it) 🙂 I have a 500 gb external hd made by western digital, I have my whole music collection, vst collection, sample collection and backup installation files along with serials that I keep locked in my safe, on my laptop I have maybe 250 songs that gets changed and replaced constantly, this way I KNOW my songs inside out and for the random nights that I dont enjoy playing but may do the odd time I add a new file and copy whatever songs on my harddrive over (pop stuff, rock music etc…)
