Id say go with traktor 2 ive been a traktor user since traktor studio 3 and traktor pro 2 is amazing in comparison to any other software ive used.

You will have to analize all tracks when first loaded but they SHOULD save all this info after loading, then you are free to map as you please and im not too sure about the itunes problem I usually have all my tracks in a music folder then load into itunes for a quick playlist.

My first guess would be to give yourself a biggest sample rate and buffer size in sound card settings, it sounds like they are way too low… If I lower mine it basically pops crackles drops out etc…

I need to be on top of future chart hits too, I spend so much time reading up on future releases.

Im the same with electro, have several sites to check everyday, email addresses to check for promoters then do a bit of searching on forums to see if anyones mentioned something new… Im the kind of person that has to be first person in my country to drop a song.

Im the same mine stays on most of the time, quantise goes on and off, if you want to drum a cue point fast or play a beat using a few you can only play to the tempo of the song with quantise on so with it off you can mess around a bit more freely.

And as for the snap, when setting cue points is the only time I may turn it off since I can then zoom right in on a noise and get it perfect, but this goes straight back on for looping 🙂 means i dont have to have amazing quick reflexes.

Mapping whise I think the official mapping works pretty well for that, its a real shame it doesnt have a sound card though, but does make an amazing effects unit and is solid, ive used mine for over 2 years of hours of use everyday and the buttons hold up well compaired to my omni control after about a year they started gettin a bit glitchy…

When you get your soundcard patrick let us no and we’ll help you get up and running 🙂

Oo the mp3 e2. 🙂 I likes them you can see one in the left of my pic, I use it for effects and loops now 🙂

Basically what you will need is a usb soundcard, the native instruments audio 2 dj or the numark io are cheapest but best for what you need 🙂 not sure on the speaker front as ive had the same pair of philips for years

Oo oo ooo a few of my own…

People expecting you to know everysong in the world and have it and be able to mix it with what you are playinf, like dubstep – spicegirls kinda shizzle

And that a dj is a failed musician….. Ill gladly take someone up on a challenge see who can play bass, guitar or drums better 😉 I played in a heavy rock band for years so gradually learnt all instruments and still play bass and guitar a lot also 🙂

Jack White, post: 5335 wrote: Hate to enforce the stereotype, but I am a gay DJ 😀

Stereotypes I get a lot and despise:

I do every drug under the sun; I don’t do any except for nicotine and alcohol.

I can mix any two tracks together; If someone can find me a way to go from drum and bass to the Vengaboys, be my guest.

    I can scratch; I can’t.

    I’m a producer; I’m not.

I can remix any track there and then; I can’t. This also includes the chavs saying “Naww mate, stick a bassline on it!”

I can turn up to DJ with 30 mins notice; It takes hours of prep-work.

I’m a party animal; Sure, I like parties, and love to drink, but to be honest, I’m happy with a glass of wine in a nice chilled bar.

I’ll DJ your wedding for you; Probably should considering it’s easy money (and plenty of it), but I’d be bored to death.

I want to talk about music and nothing else; I love to talk about music, but it’s not my entire life.

I use vinyl; Why would I carry around 85 metric tons of music around when I can take tens of thousands of tracks in a few kilos?

I can use any digital DJ software on the planet; I went back to VDJ the other day and realised I’d forgotten how to use it (I use Traktor now)

I’m sure there’s more. Writing this has actually made me a little angry lol

I liked all yours bar one :p you should at least be able to turn upto a dj gig with your stuff and play with 30 mins notice :p this is were knowing your songs comes in handy, I could get a call right now and go drop a fresh 5 hour dubstep or electro set in 30 mins time 🙂

Jack White, post: 5333 wrote: Yeah, I’d seen the buttons, but didn’t know what they were for, and there were no settings for it in the…..well, settings.

Having learnt on VDJ, I thought traktor would to it automatically..

Didnt see your post till going back to it :), the reason traktor let us select it ourselves is because when we set cue points we might be looking to get a precise word or noise… With snap turned on we just jump to the closest beat, so for cue point setting turning it off may help you 🙂

I dont really no the tech reason behind it just think its adds the belly thumping sound you need in a club track 🙂 , think songs sound weak without it though
