ParticipantA Chauvet Trident might look nice, anything along the lines of an American DJ Vertigo, lasers (galaxian, hypnotic, etc), and some fog will go a long way.

ParticipantI played for a Dead spot last new years eve. It was a bar connected to a restaurant right down the street from a few huge clubs, most of the people there were waiting for their reservation next door at the restaurant. It was rather boring but luckily the staff was super awesome and I still got paid NYE rates 🙂

ParticipantI’ll send you a mix mp3 once I get to my PC.

ParticipantI’ll for sure do some line dances but gogo do you mean like Baltimore club jams? “Ride that wave”, “back it up and dump it” and songs of the sort if you’re familiar with them?

ParticipantThanks for all the feedback, after seeing Quest Love (and his awesome opening act) play at my work the other night it inspired me to do some hip-hop and r&b classics alongside side personal favorites as well as pop tunes, line dances, etc.

ParticipantI own and play regularly through the Alto TS 112a’s and I have to say for the price ($300 USD a piece) they’re pretty darn good. They’re no QSC or high end JBL but working with both the Mackie Thumps and alto powdered series I’d take the Altos over thumps anyday.

ParticipantThanks a bunch man, I’m gonna make a track list in the description soon.

ParticipantIn that case practice man, try listens to mixes with songs you know and you can easily pick-up different transition methods.

ParticipantOne way to get out of “robotic mixing” I think your talking about is to manually punch in your next tune. Assuming that beats are already matched try setting some cues (kick, snare, etc) and just play around. Single, half, and quarter notes add depth to mix as opposed to a straight 4 bar kick loop. I find rubber pads or buttons are the best for this kind of style.
