Just as Terry said, for DJing you can pretty much use what suits for YOU the best. If you don’t see anything wrong with using your headphones for DJing, there probably isn’t. I like my DJ phones to be a bit bass heavy, well isolated and I want them to look cool too so I went with V-Modas myself.

Well, for production you probably want to have that ‘flat’ sound and this is why most DJ headphones (many of them are low end heavy!) imho doesn’t fit for production.

Summing it up,
Production headphones -> Can be often used with DJing
DJing headphones -> Doesn’t usually fit for production

and this is just my humble opinion 🙂

I second what Terry said. I used to own NS6. It lacks newer functions and my experiences from the unit wasn’t.. very good. Random crashes here and there out of nowhere. I’d rather take DDJ-SB2 (or any lower end controller that has modern functions) than NS6

I can’t really compare the programs as I haven’t used either one actively. But what I can put in this convo don’t go for XDJ-RX if you plan to use it with software. It’s meant to be utilized as all-in-one controller (there isn’t even full HID support for the screen!). It wasn’t even intentioned to work with rekordbox DJ (performance mode) at start but later Pioneer surprised the RX owners since there were so many requests for rbDJ support. You get more for your money with DDJ series if you’re using software. Just my humble opinion as XDJ-RX user 🙂

@D-Jam But it’s from Japan 🙂 It’s not live song but I agree the vocals sounds bit like they were live, and the crappy sound quality isn’t doing anything good :< So yeah, there is ‘polished’ version of this but underground Japanese music can be.. hard to find if you don’t speak the language :p
