The match feature in Djay Pro will change the key of the song on one deck to the same key of the song on the other deck. Let’s say on deck 1 you have a song in the key of C playing. On deck 2 you want to mix in a song with the key of Bb. If you click on the match button on deck 2 it will change the key to C raising the Bb 2 half steps to C. That is why you will see (+2) on deck 2. The match feature works best when the keys are close together by half steps.

If you click on the (-/+) it just lowers or raises the key by half steps. For example if you have a song in the key of G and you +1 the key will change to G#/Ab. -1 will change the key to Gb/F#.

The (-/+) and match feature does not work like the Camelot wheel.

I would look at Algoriddim Djay Pro. I believe the Pioneer WEGO3 comes with it.

Algoriddim Djay Pro can do what you want. You have to go into settings for automix and select transitions. In transitions you have a few options. Auto-sync BPM is one of them. You can also set the seconds length of the transition. Keep in mind when you set up your playlist try to keep the BPM of the songs 2-3 BPM within each other for best results.

Justin if you don’t feel comfortable about this gig the best decision is to pass it up. I don’t know where you live but I do know in the U.S there is a email scam targeting DJ’s. This sounds almost like the scam.

The We-go ships with Serato DJ Intro. It is Serato DJ Upgrade Ready meaning you would have to purchase a license for the controller in order to use Serato DJ.

Actually in “Mixed In Key 7” it is the following:

    Click ‘Personalize’

    Click ‘Update common tags’

Under ‘Tag writing options’ click ‘Write only the energy level (‘7′)’

Under ‘Where to write it’ click ‘Overwrite comments’

Same as DJ Flanksteak wrote but different wording. Maybe its different wording for a Mac and PC. I’m on a Mac.

    Baltazar,

If I write out the individual notes of each scale it would look like this:

    A Major Scale: A B C# D E F# G# A
    B Major Scale: B C# D# E F# G# A# B

Notice the notes that each scale have in common: B C# E F# G#

The notes not in common: D/D# A/A#

You would think because both keys have 5 notes in common they would mix well together. This is most likely not the case because of the Chord progression and Harmonies under the main melody. Again use your ears. Like GJ Fukit said, “if it sounds good, go with it, if not, forget it.”

If you are interested in learning how to mix songs in key I highly recommend the course “How To Master Key Mixing” when it becomes available on Digital DJ tips. They have a section called “A Complete Theory & Practice of Keymixing For Digital DJs” that will answer many of your questions.

Depends on the songs. Your ears will tell you if it sounds right. Mixing A to B can increase the energy of the floor. Both keys have 5 notes in common and 2 notes not in common. Where you might have issues is if the A or D note in the key of A clashes with the A# or D# in the key of B. So it depends on the chord progression and melody of each song.

Yes you can use the Surface Pro 3 with Serato DJ and the Pioneer DDJ SX. YouTube has a few videos demonstrating this.

I would stay away from the Stanton SCS4DJ. I own it. It is a pain to prepare music for the SCS4DJ operating system.

From my experience if you are going to buy a PA try to buy high quality. I own 2 Alto TS115’s thinking I would go the low cost way. I’m sorry I bought them. I now use them as a back up.

I decided to go with Yamaha DXR12’s and a Yamaha DX15 sub for a total cost of $1800 on sale. The reason I decided on Yamaha is for the 7 year warranty. I’ve had good experience using Yamaha equipment throughout the years playing in bands. Very reliable product.

Look into the new line of DBR Yamaha active speakers. They are reasonably priced and still come with a great warranty. They should be in your price range. Also check out EV active speakers before you make any decisions.

If I was to start over again I would have gone with 2 Yamaha DXR15’s at about $1300-$1500 for the set after taxes. This set up would be reliable and have a good warranty.

I would look at the Pioneer DDJ SR before the DDJ SB. It’s a solid controller and it comes with the full version of Serato DJ. If you shop around you can get it for about $499.

I have done this in the past using Djay software. I created two iTune libraries. Djay would pick up on the one I opened last. So this should work for Serato.
