MemberMind you, I am an amateur, but what is wrong with letting a track play through? Nobody I’ve come across wants to hear just 32 bars of a track, or only the main vocals, and then hear another song. People want something to latch onto when they’re dancing and listening and if you have music ADD as a DJ, it’s hard for them to focus and get into the right trance-like state of mind. I like letting a track completely play out because it gives me easier, yet more creative mixing opportunities such as messing with a high-pass filter, or dropping an echo-freeze all while seamlessly transitioning. Again, not bashing, I just don’t actually understand where you’re coming from and would love if someone could help me understand because I’m new and obviously still learning. Cheers!

MemberYeah Kranic is right Emma, we all care about you and need you here on the forums. Also, I think this thread is great because everyone is sure to know someone or be affected by a mental illness themselves. It gives us a chance to share and know that we’re not alone, which is more than incredible to me. Great idea! Much love, Michael

MemberI love this thread. Such an interesting topic. Emma, I loved what you were saying about how its never ok. I agree for the most part. I have inky had 2 gigs and both times I went having practiced but not a planned out mix. What I did do is bring a backup mix that I put in at one point. I had recorded it the night before in case I needed a break, which I did being as it was my first gig and it lasted almost 4 hours. It all went great, I just needed a minute to step away and take a break, and I think that somethin like that is ok as long as its not too long and you’re not getting paid for it ( free family gig). I wasn’t happy about it but I needed to do it just for a few songs, and it was fine. Despite what I said above, I think Angello cheated these people out if their money, but only the people that noticed. The rest had a great time and I don’t think it was that terrible. I still think its completely wrong though and hope I never end up doing that.

MemberWhat software are you using? Also, it’s BPM which stand for beats per minute. If it’s traktor, there is a little “x2” button that will turn that 70 into 140 and they will sync better, but it will still sound off because the difference is so large.

MemberI made a box for my money that I have been putting some in little by little since I heard about this so that I can get it by next year. Looks great!

MemberIf it doesn’t hum at home at loud volumes, it won’t hum in the club

MemberOh, one of my problems is that the Bome converter is not working right. I am getting an error for a feature unsupported on the mac version yet, which is generic key strokes “in”. Until that works, I’m stuck…

MemberI did read the forum but the thing is, I am using TP2 and that was Traktor 1, and it doesn’t work the same for some reason, as said by others on there. Mr stifffy, how would I “open up all devices” like that? That sounds like a perfect option but i can’t figure out how to do it.

MemberTruthfully, I think you should relax a little bit concerning the legality of music downloading and playing. I mean, I see what you’re saying and why you’re curious, but so far I have seen 4 posts in the last 3 days by you, all concerning illegal downloading of music, and your signature is that big picture of Bart saying “I will not download illegal music”. I agree with you that DJ’s should get their music legally, but maybe turn it down a notch or so, because we all already know. Just so you know, I’m not mad or trying to sound mean or anything, just trying to nicely say my point. I completely agree with your reasoning though. 🙂

MemberThank you chris. That’s sick, but its still out of my price range. Hopefully some of you here can pick one up! 🙂
