    Thanks man!

Yeah I’d have to agree with Phil and a lot of the others here that education (both in the technique and crate digging sense) is way more important than gear. Though I’m a fan of that too being an engineer (grabbed an S8 so I can do some fancy clips/stems stuff down the road with more practice). I’ve been reading the book “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” and love the quote (I can’t remember who, maybe it was Sasha?) who’s like, “I don’t know what you guys are going nuts over. I’m just playing one record after the next. You can do this!” Just goes to show how powerful track selection and playing to the crowd can be!

Dude, thanks for the detailed breakdown! I’m taking a look also between coding breaks 🙂

Overall I agree with your sentiment – I’m a fan of trance as much as anybody (listen to alot of ABGT), but to be honest, I like the deeper sounds of progressive house and techno, so that’s probably more where I’ll be going in future mixes, it starts to sound ‘cheesy’ to me too after a bit. I knew I would have a very wide range of listeners on this one so I thought, “How can I cover everything, from downtempo to super dancy and energetic?” Probably made a few choices that weren’t my absolute favorites but that’s part of the learning process I guess.

25-29 – I liked the “heyyyyyahhhh…” vocal stuff going on in the background so I thought it added to the transition. If it’s too much that’s good to keep in mind. I’m not sure about the rest of the comments you had, though. I honestly didn’t do much to the track, if you listen to Rebound that’s kinda just how it goes. Maybe just not everyone’s favorite production style :). I wanted to give Mat Zo a rep cause he’s one of the best in my opinion in blending between all different genres.

47 – yep, I messed up once with the beatmasher, but got in a good one as well. Just need to practice with effects more and tone it down further still (it’s so tempting!)

I haven’t heard this a lot in feedback yet but I wasn’t too happy with the way volume levels turned out on this one (I stopped trusting Traktor autogain and missed the mark a few times with the manual gain settings), was it that noticeable?

One thing I’ve read a lot here is that non-DJ folks often don’t notice the little technicalities that we do. I was afraid that wouldn’t be true and kept worrying about the little mistakes here and there. But surprisingly it’s true – most people don’t even listen that closely! Just pick good music and the rest follows I suppose 🙂
