I looked at this again and it would seem that in fact it is more of an all in one device. There is no way to control SW on a laptop or to even connect to an external hard drive, its a memory card only job. It’s a shame really as in principle it looks like a fun device. For a £100 it may be worth it just for shits and giggles with a proper controller alongside through an external mixer.

Thanks for the input guys. The N4 looks tempting as it’s close to my budget, if I can squeeze fifty quid out of a retailer then that could be the one. The S2 is too expensive for my purposes but it does look good, the digital vinyl would make sense but that means having to have them set up the whole time which is not that practical with two young kiddies around.
I’ll get back to you when I’ve made my choice.

Hello All, Noob here. I have a question. connected with the OP’s. My Technics are currently resting in the loft (and have been for way too long) and I want to get back into mixing. Having had a look around at what’s out there and seen some of Phils and others reviews on YouTube I’m narrowing my choice down to the following:- Numark Mixtrack Pro, Numark iDJ3 or Hercules DJ 4 Set or possibly a secend hand Vestax VCI300. What should I get? And what are the consequences when it comes to packaged software. Once I’ve made my choice, then where do I go for new music (not ITunes please!).
    Thanks.
    Mark
