My main genres are house and techno but I also love some UKG (and its derivatives) and would like to mix them sometime. I imagine that the smooth, long, transition of house won’t exactly work on UKG? I often hear UKG mixed quickly with a lot of crossfader slamming with emphasis of “drop”? And I also wonder if I should take notice of the irregular drum beats. Thanks!

i’ve started djing to mix that kind of bass music… everyone must find his own style, but i suggest you to watch djs performing on youtube (for ex. check the “boiler room” stuff).
personally i don’t like dropping and crossfader slammig, also if sometimes i do it… check this mix i’ve done, i did it as an exercise to learn smooth, subtle transitions:

i’ve got an MC3000 too… and i’ve used a Traktor S2. I think those are the best controllers in that price ranges.

i got the Denon because of the solid metal chassis, the dedicated filter knob and more buttons for cues/samples etc….
I think the S2 gives a better “feel” with knobs and faders, while denon’s touch sensitive jogs are better than S2’s. Also, i played in the same dj booth with a friend with an S2, and it seems that the sound card of the denon sounds more loud before clipping. However, i think the s2 is very cool and better looking, if this matters.
