Man, was I a dumbass. Those “masterpiece” webpages I was so focused on now look old and dated, not even in my portfolio anymore. She remains beautiful person. (We’re still friends). It took me another 15 years to find woman as good as her. (…) I’m a happily married man now.
that’s quite a touching Story, thx for sharing 😉

Participantgo to the bar and just listen to the music, observe the crowd, have some small talk with the resident DJ.
If you bring your own Gear, make sure you can have a soundcheck and know how to connect to the clubs system and how to set your levels (if you have unbalanced output only)
write a checklist what to bring
dont prepare just a tight playlist, prepare at least double/tripple of the time you play
bring some mints with you
dont forget to pee 😉

ParticipantTerry, did you buy them? i wanted to buy them first, but it’s hard to get them in china so i got another
model from that brand: http://www.etymotic.com/hp/er20.html
Tested them last weekend at two gigs, i am really satisfied. noise is reduced almost equally, so no
effect on EQing on your mix.I think Hearing is really important, especially if you are frequently subjected to loud music ^^
so dont let other people tell you earprotection is for pus***sMarcel
Marcel
Participanti love looking at other peoples Dj setup, like the girls strolling in IKEA or watching Model-Shows!
always good for some inspiration 😉October 6, 2012 at 11:41 am in reply to: From Digital Gear back to the (Digital) Vinyl Roots? #1013149Marcel
Participantso 2-3 Weeks ago i left my digital gear at home and just used the Clubs SSL setup.
Since then i just used the Vinyls and i must say i love it, it feels great (maybe i developed a vinyl-fetish…)with my “digital” knowledge its easier to understand the analog roots and the other way around,
like a circle that slowly closes to me….now that i’ve seen both worlds, analog and digital, i even less understand what all the fuzz and whining is about?!
Every side has some great advantages and some downsides…October 6, 2012 at 11:16 am in reply to: Apart from your DJ gear, what's one item you wouldn't be without at your gigs? #1013148Marcel

ParticipantDid you have the “standing-in-front-of-DJ-Booth-staring-at-you-guy”??
Last night i played with my controller and for at least 15min there was a guy standing right in front of me,
just staring at me and my gear (while the party was bouncing in the background). Was a bit creepy —
