MemberThanks very much for the help, appreciate the example mixes and that article was really helpful also phil…I’m committing to completing a full mix by the end of the week and hopefully getting it up on soundcloud but i’ll definitely be keeping the effects to a minimum in my early stages haha

MemberThanks for the tips everyone, in regards to the bpm’s of my songs i think its more an issue of just trying to time two songs together so maybe beatmatching isn’t the right word to use in this context…pretty much i just want to be able to bring a song in without the awful clip-clop noise of miss timed beats.
If you think that effects isn’t the right path to head down what can you recommend as something to spice things up a bit, i understand that the most important thing is song selection and you shouldn’t try to over do it but for just bedroom djing i wouldn’t mind trying a few things as my tracks play…any ideas?

MemberWith the sync button I have to admit the jog wheels become pretty unimportant but there’s something about having the larger ones on the mixtrack that sort of give it a more authentic feel. I don’t know why and clearly looks isn’t what matters but one of the reasons I got the mixtrack was because of the larger wheels, the others sort of seemed a bit too ‘toyish’ with the smaller jogs…again I know this isn’t the correct way too look at it but just the way I feel.

MemberGood mix of songs, here’s my opinion on the ones I know
1. Doing It Right (Original Mix) Afrojack
I’m a massive Afrojack fan and love this song but it’s a little heavy for your normal audience so unless you know the crowd will love it probably stick to one of his more commercial track such as ‘Pacha on Acid,’ ‘Kickstart (Afrojack remix)’ or the obvious ‘take over control’…also he’s remix of ‘hide and seek’ is an awesome closer.
2. Fade Into Darkness (Vocal Club Mix) Avicii
Again huge Avicii fan and obviously love this track, I think it’s a top song to play to get people up and about because of the natural uplifting vibe of Avicii’s music plus the vocal for the ladies…I’d also highly recommend ‘Levels’ and ‘Silhouettes’ by him13. I Was Drunk Riva Starr
Nice and funky tune, should be received well by most crowds so a good option, also gives a nice change up if its getting a bit plainl15. Teenage Crime (Axwell Remix) Adrian Lux
Huge track and big dance floor filler, maybe getting a little too old but unless your crowd is really up-to-date on their music they won’t mind…other top songs by Axwell/SHM ‘save the world tonight,’ ‘Nothing but love,’ ‘In the Air (axwell remix)’ and ‘Heart is my religion (Blake Jarrell Mashup)’18. Nillionaire – Original Mix Alesso
Big wraps on Alesso and love this tune but maybe a little too out there depending on your audience, I probably prefer ‘Dynamite’ to Nillionaire but really recommend he’s remix of ‘Pressure’…and he’s got another big tune with Ingrosso called ‘Calling’ that will smash it, not out atm though i don’t think
But yeah don’t know the other songs somailman
MemberPretty sure Deadmau5 signed this kid to Mau5trap, he’s remix of Raise Your Weapon is amazing.

MemberHey thanks a heap everybody, when i wrote this i wasn’t using an external soundcard (hadn’t purchased headphones at the time) but since then i’ve set up my soundcard and headphones and the problem has seemed to fix itself…songs are at their correct tempo and i can now see the subtle differences in bpm in my songs.
Thanks again for all the advice 🙂

MemberI’ll admit that I’ve made a few drunk requests in my time but I found that 90% of the time the DJ already had that song in mind and was planning on playing it anyway.
And requests can be a lot of fun as well, at a pub/club I used to go to a lot with mates there was always the same DJ every night we went. One of my best mates and I used to always request the same song and the DJ used to love us for it because he loved the song and told us that he got so fed up with having to play cheesy top 40 stuff and we gave him an excuse to play less mainstream house music…we ended up becoming mates with him and he used to give us free drink cards haha
Funnily enough saw this guy out at a club last weekend after not being to his venue in over 2 years.

MemberFor some reason I’m unable to change my sampling rate, when I click the drop down menu the only option there is 44100. I can’t type in a different number or select a different rate because none are there, only 44100??
Any ideas as to why this is?

MemberThanks for the tips guys, unfortunately my sampling rate is already set at 44100 Hz and I can’t seem to change it anyway…any other ideas?
