ParticipantI have a weekly radio show on an internet radio channel on Ustream, normally I record it at home and send it to the studio, but once I did a live show. Can’t remember what DJ controller there was, but what they did was having a seperate computer that receives the audio through the mic input and then broadcasts it on Ustream. However, I don’t think you need a seperate computer, if you use Ustream, you could both load VDJ and Ustream, Take a RCA-jack cable, so the RCA part you plug into your dj controller (so look for a dj controller that has that output capability) and put the jack into the mic input on your computer and configure Ustream to broadcast that.

However, that doesn’t mean I’ll PLAY them next, soon, or at all for that matter. My reply is always the same thing: “I’ll try to squeeze that in for you tonight.”
I often do that as well, but then some people see it as a promise and will come back demanding I keep my end to a promise that I actually never made, I just said I’d try playing it. However, other people are more friendly and accept it if I say a simple “no”. Every person has a different level of being able to accept that I don’t have their song/it doesn’t match with the vibe on the dancefloor.

ParticipantThanks Todd and Terry for the advice. I’ll try the suggestions next time a person with an annoying request comes up to me.

ParticipantOther than the crossfader, have you tried using the cue/pgm knob? This knob is next to the cue volume knob, a bit a the top.

ParticipantThe bar I usual DJ at has a whole range of crowds. Some just want the commercail music everyone knows and the radio plays all day, some want real vintage music and others want music they don’t know but are really loud. I try to combine it in my sets to keep everybody happy and often I put on a real bass poundin track that nobody knows it gets the crowd still banging and I get positive feedback. Be careful though: if nobody digs it, switch back. However you can then try another to the general public unknown track.

ParticipantOk so last week I went to a special DJ store to try the NS6 out, I must say it has amazing platters. But as I was leaving the shop, I noticed there were two NS6’s behind the counter with notes on them, I bleive they needed repairs. So my concern is now: does anyone have any exprerience with the NS6 being broken? Or is it a reliable, durable device?

You can download and install serato itch for free, but you are not actually running ITCH at that point. This is just the offline player for track preparation / etc. I would not consider the ability to play a song in the offline player any indication of full compatibility with running Itch. I’m not trying to say that it won’t work, but just giving you a heads up.
I made the jump from Mixtrack Pro to NS6 about a year ago and love it. Check out the Forums on http://www.serato.com about Serato Itch. Tons of issues with Windows…very few problems with MAC OS….
I’ve been testing Itch without an controller, so indeed just as a player. However, I have been using DJ Intro with Mixtrack Pro and that didn’t give any problems, and I think DJ Intro is a heavily stripped down version of Itch, but the engine is the same (I think). So I was hoping that Itch when fully running with the NS6 will not give problems either.
