Doh! Im from Brighton but now live in Cardiff! Used to play out quite a bit in bars and clubs, got to the finals of a couple of local comps. Only just got back into DJing recently when i brought a Reloop Mixage after 5/6 years out because of kids and jobs! Looking to get back out playing again but i need to get to grips with this digital world! lol! They ain’t large lumps of black plastic any more!

My personal opinion is you should be prepared a bit but only to the extent of knowing what mixes well into what and how many bars in is the break. Ive always fed off the crowd and there reaction, so i know when to tease them a bit more with the track they want to hear then drop it when they are least expecting it!

Definitely not! When i first started DJ’ing years ago I used to make up loads of loops and samples in Cool Edit and play them out as fills and links but then took it took the next level of producing my own bootlegs! Then i started buying 2 of each 12″ so I could start bouncing between them using samples. DJ’ing is about expressing and sharing your creativity and music collection with others, taking an audience on a journey and if you have to use samples, loops, or what ever then thats you personality coming through! Keep it up!
