To be honest mate your just wasting your time spending £50 on headphones, if you want anything thats worth listening through you have to spend a little bit more.. For example the Technics RP-DJ1210/1200 headphones are fantastic but almost double your budget.

The Sony MDR-V700’s are good headphones at roughly about £75 if i remember, or the new Pioneer HDJ500’s which are meant to be fantastic headphones for the price..

That little extra investment of money will pay off as they will last you double what £40 headphones will.

Ahh interesting, has this been updated in the demo? If so how do i go about changing it to ‘stable’ as i will give it a go!

My mate is one of those guys that started DJ’n using purely CDJ’s (1000 mk3s) and a DJM600 and he said he would never go digital or use sync but he uses the BPM counters on the CDJ’s.. The other week he mixed with vinyl for the first time ever and he has now sold his CDJ1000s and purchased two Technics 1210 mk2’s and a shit load of vinyl and about to invest in Traktor Scratch Pro..

So some people move forward some people move back.

I keep my slipmats in a solid thick old record sleeve that i no longer have the record for which keeps them looking good.

If im at home i keep them in the same sleeve but in the middle of my records (i have a Expedit cube) each cube holds around 50 records per segment and i keep it bang in the middle of a segment so it keeps them flat as possible. 🙂

I’m still using TSP1 and won’t be shifting for another 6 months i don’t think (at least) i enjoy the way TSP is.. The sample decks doesn’t really interest me because when i use samples its samples i already have created into shall we say anything from 30 seconds to 3 minute clips i load into the deck im not using. So usually i just use 2 decks mixing and if i want to throw samples in it goes in deck A or deck B.. I hardly use 3 decks.

The thing that bugs me about TSP2 is the BPM ready out, it fluctuates quite a lot. NOTE i don’t use the BPM read out as im what you call old school but it is nice to quickly glance at if your in a rush and its hopping about everywhere!

I eventually did the full switch after having a Macbook and a Windows 7 laptop.. Now have a Macbook and a iMac.

I will never own a Windows based computer again. I had a high spec Windows 7 laptop and it struggled to run Ableton 7 and 8 also Traktor (not at the same time). I also have niggly little things like how Windows can complicate settings and installing items and folders upon folders etc.

Mac: I love how simple and user friendly it is. Just plug and play, settings are easy to adjust, keyboard shortcuts (as standard) are brilliant. I had a low spec Macbook and even that run Ableton 7 & 8 easily aswel as Traktor..

My ONLY negative thing i can say about MacOS is that will using Windows for so many years i can navigate round it quicker while doing graphic design or sorting music etc.. But that will quickly change.

Haha! No i am not, but my fellow resident DJ is Chris Lakes childhood best friend and still is best friends with him, and where i DJ is the club that Chris residented at before he hit it big so my mate gets quite a lot of unreleased stuff from him that i enjoy. 🙂

Photography i love the views here in Scotland, and as weird as this sounds i like to sit and sort out my imac/macbook. I consider it relaxing when i just sit and sort and tidy things out so everything runs well (OCD influenced)

    4. Gary Beck – Hands in Mine
    5. Chris Lake – Conga (now known as Cross the Line)
    6. Chris Lake – Sundown

D-Jam, post: 3766 wrote: I use a Lenovo Thinkpad…because I like Windows more than Mac OS.

If you’re not computer-savvy, then I suggest you get a Macbook Pro. Don’t get insulted guys, but I generally call Macs “dummy proof”…which means someone who isn’t deep into how an OS works and how to optimize Windows will get better satisfaction from a Mac. Mainly because Apple protects the consumer from himself.

If you want Windows and Lenovo isn’t your thing, then look at Sony Vaio or Toshiba Laptops. Also invest in a FULL CLEAN COPY of Windows and not the butchered version that comes with most of these laptops. From there, just keep up on how to optimize your laptop and keep the OS running smooth.

I also suggest no matter what you pick (Mac or Windows), you max out your ram.

I basically agree with everything here.. And im a Mac fanboy!

There can be many different ways on doing this but depending on what type of crowd you are playing too.. Commercial top 40 pop, hip-hop, underground.. All varies.
