If you have a legit version you can download much better effects that are great in sound and functionality. Serato intro is a compromise right off the bat atleast until an itch upgrade becomes available if it ever does.

What do you mean “off the bat” for Serato with the Terminal mix 2?

Thanks Phil, really helped me allot! So I’ve read and watch the reviews of the Ultrasone DJ1 and A&H XD2-53 and it was great, the question is every time I watch you I always see some nice set of speakers, the yellow ones. What are they? I’m just curious and I’m looking for some nice set of speakers.

Not that cheap, I was thinking about the Reloop RHP-20 from what I heard it’s below $200 and that’s exactly my budget is! Does the Reloop RHP-20 have good sound quality, specifically mentioning the the punchy bass I love from headphones.

However you have to agree that the style of controller is not for everyone and from what I am reading from our friend LemonGrass he is not yet decided what he wants to get from a controller and surely you need to decide this before choosing a controller at all. He may even come to the conclusion that the Twitch is best for him, but then he will have no second thoughts.

I’m a DJ that’s looking for new ways to mix music, I just don’t like to mix music all the time with standard ways. I like it with more possibilities on changing how music feels and sounds. I know what I want from a controller, ALLOT OF EFFECTS! 😀 So what do you think should I get? I have a lot to choose from problem is couldn’t make up my mind.

Thank you very much for your time and effort 😀

IMHO bad choice, did you think about controllerism, if you need to apply effects on jogs later, pitch bend on jogs etc. etc. etc. and even if Itch is the software for you?

No you do not need an amp, you seriously need to check out Phil’s guides though.

Can you link Phil’s guide to me? Thank you!

It totally depends on what you want to do.
If you want to scratch, well the touchstrip will not get you into scratch heaven, but then the jogs on an MC3000 are also not the holy grail.
The Denon is catered towards Traktor, the twitch is for Itch.
You need to decide on your software first and what you want to do as a DJ (which genre, which type of DJ, ….)
If you have not decided yet or are unable (as to lacking in experience) than try the software test versions first without a controller and try to wrap your head around the software part first.

I realized that I was really not into scratching so I decided to buy the Novation Twitch. Do I need an amp for my headphones upon using Twitch?

… I’m referring the Denon MC3000 for the controller w/ jog wheels. Which has more features and is more fun to use?

Not too expensive (~100$, even cheaper here in Austria, I bought them for ~70€) and top quality in my opinion, I use them as everyday headphones as well as when I’m DJing, good isolation and a clear sound, they got a little room so the bassy frequencies are pretty present as well and they’re comfortable to wear.

I can’t really give you a good advice regarding the controller, I’m still using the first MIDI controller I’ve ever bought when I’m DJing, it’s an Akai MPD26 which works nicely with Traktor, although it has no direct support for it, so you have to map it to your likes with Traktor’s controller manager. Having said that, I’m always using an external mixer as well, I wouldn’t want to control the EQ with the controller as the potties don’t have a stopping point and you can turn them endlessly in each direction, which means you have no real feedback of when one of your frequency band’s completely killed, at normal level or fully boosted.

Maybe just stop by your local store and ask them for cheaper alternatives for the S4 : )

    Cheers

    Thanks for the suggestions 😀

My budget for the headphones are $200. Can you suggest some good DJ headphones sub $200.
My budget for the DJ controller are $400. Any suggestion, please?

Can you also suggest some dj headphones with a heavy but clear bass, can swivel and has good isolation. Thank you! What’s the difference between the imix reload and the imix reload mk2?
