There are a lot of used Tech 1200s out there too, if you want to put some time in. I just bought two refurbished 1210s for just over $800 total.
I will also pose one alternative to Traktor or Serato on a laptop. If you already happen to own an iPad, an app called DJ Player supports DVS. I am using a small $250 mixer from Akai called an AMX, which also contains an audio interface (and the xfader is a mini Innofader). For a home/hobby setup, you can’t beat the price. (Note that the AMX is *not* a standalone analog mixer, so it will only work in a software-based setup. It was originally designed for Serato.)
