Seems like the z1 only has one audio output, so the mixing will be ‘internally’.

I myself have a audio 2 dj (mk1). I mostly use it as a soundcard for my studio though since I don’t use Traktor live. My biggest concern with the mk2 is that it has 3,5mm connection instead of the 6,3mm ones found on the mk1. These are a lot smaller and, by effect, a lot less reliable (easier to pull out accidentally or just snap off).

Also, with an x1 and a z1 you effectively have a full mixer-player setup so basicly with those two little boxes you’re basicly ready for everything, just need to plug an RCA lead in.

Just my opinion though, but I’d go with the z1 if you’re willing to cough up twice as much. And if you’re going for the audio 2, maybe search for a mk1 second hand or so. I really wouldn’t want to rely on those 3,5mm jacks. I also got mine second hand for just 14 Euros.

+1 for counting down here. A lot easier in the heat of the moment.

Cue points are set in rekordbox so I’m able to call them really fast. Seems like quite a hassle to open the comment on the CDJ screen, find the spot and search the beat.

    In response to Matt:
The cable does indeed come off, on the right side there’s two screws. Really easy to replace.

I also like to mix inside my headphones and have absolutely no problem with isolation of my HD25’s. I should note my monitors are always on a rather low level if I compare to the DJ’s playing before/after me. I’ve already got hearing damage so I tend to keep my monitors low and do a lot in my headphones wearing ear plugs.

I bought a Sennheiser HD25-C II and I absolutely LOVE them. I’m using them live as well as in the studio for producing.

It’s the version with a coiled cable (hence the -C). This is the only thing I have slightly mixed feelings about. Although it’s still a lot more practical than having a 3 meter straight cable (in my opinion), the cable is quite heavy.

But nevertheless, I think they’re magnificent. Wouldn’t, nor couldn’t, miss them for anything in the world.
Also, at 180 Euro they were somewhat affordable and definitely worth it.
