Thanks I’m looking at the shure srh750 also

    Update as my search continues…

I bought the Pioneer HDJ 2000. On the plus side these feel great. Super soft, really comfortable and they look great. One note, they are not all metal like I thought they were. There’s some plastic which makes me worry about longevity especially without a hard case which should be included at this price.

I used them at my gig on saturday night for 4 hours. Very light, no neck strain. Spent most of the time with the band over my head with one ear cup on and one off. They were a little too small for my preferred position around my neck using one shoulder to push up to my ear. I really had the stretch to get there and it was not comfortable.

Isolation was good. Not great. My real problem was the bass. I have older ears and I kept turning up the volume as the club filled up and it got noisy. I guess in the end I thought they were pretty awesome but not worth the price premium, so they are going back. I’m going to try the Ultrasones or the Reloops next.

Guess I should throw the Ultrasone DJ1 Pros in there? Need to read more review on these.

For me it depends on the software. Not sure how common this is but I used the sync button a ton in traktor. I never use it in itch. My ear plus waveridding seems to give better results and I can bend the individual tracks as needed. I use itch 90% of the time but as soon as I’m back in traktor I start hitting that sync button. 🙂

That really sucks because touching these units really helps clarify what you want. Good news is all 3 are really good and it comes down to preference (both hardware/software) and what you plan to do with it. Know that whatever you get will be good and you’ll probably be pretty happy!

    My $.02
Denon mc6000- swiss army knife. Compact with lots of features and quality. Flexible system. Seeing lots of mappings and firmware support. All good things if you like that. I personally don’t want to spend more time futzing and configuring than practicing. If you do like completely customizing to you than this is a great unit. I also thought it was too small for me, but I do miss the small size for portable but I’ll probably pick up a used vci-300 (or twitch) for a portable itch capable deck.

S4-I prefer itch to traktor but using the S4 with traktor is amazing. All things I found complicated with other controllers (tried mixtrack, reloop, and mc6000) all of a sudden seemed easy and intuitive. If you love traktor and don’t need the flexibility of the denon then it’s great fun.

NS6 – Have not touched it. I have the NS7 and like itch so I plan to play with one soon but I’m waiting to see what Itch 2.0 brings to both units. Seems like it brings the best of most worlds. Simplicity of itch and great controller with a lot of learning from the NS7 and mixtrack/mixdeck. Plus a lot of the flexibilty in software and hardware that the denon offers.

I’d say watch a ton of videos on youtube of people using all three units. Watch their movements with the knobs, faders, jogs. You might also see if you can get some hi res pictures and print out actual scale 1:1 pictures on several pieces of paper. You’d have a flat version to stand in front of and see how the spacing feels. Or maybe try drawing on posterboard/drafting paper. Hope that helps!

I like itch better anyway and found a deal on a NS7. Now I have tons of room and a holdover till I get some time to try the NS6 and get back 4 channel/ mixer. It’s a pain to move the NS7 but I have a lot more fun during the 5-6 hours I’m playing at the bar.

Itch. Started at traktor. I like traktor but itch is just so easy to use. I also use sync all the time in traktor. I never use it in itch and I do 4-6 hour gigs in itch. Waveforms and interface is so much better for me

I’d say spend a lot of hands on time. I bought one as an upgrade to a mixtrack. Used for one gig, hated it, and returned it. Found the layout way too small and cramped. I also spent half the night looking for the caps on the faders cause they fly off if you flick them too hard. Buy some glue or bags of replacement fader caps. Overall it just wasn’t what I was looking for in my dj experience. I felt like I was hunched over this tiny unit instead of having space and interacting with the crowd. Build quality of the Denon is top notch.
