ParticipantThanks for the info! I will look down both routes but mix vibes sounds a nice price for me to mess about with. Desperately need to get some use from my controller after owning for 4 years.
Have a good weekend
cheers!

ParticipantI love my Denon 6000! Super sturdy, pro built controller. It can be used as a stand alone mixer and has enough inputs / outputs for every occasion. The two mic inputs would also be handy for the wedding speaches.Must add in the price of buying traktor thou. I agree with the other posts that your first decision needs to be about software because the controller only pushes the software buttons. Why don’t you go to your local dj store and try out the equipment? Also Read the dj tips 2012 controller guide. I over thought it, took 8 months to make a decision, then bought the Denon which was my first choice from the start.

ParticipantMc3000 now £399 so even better value. Solid denon build quality @ a great price.

ParticipantI have bought the dj course. It is amazing value for money, I think it was about £30 ish. It will quickly set you in the right direction, speed up your learning and show you the right way. Better than any book because you get words and pictures and much cheaper than a dj course. Enjoy your new controller!!!

ParticipantI love the quality of denon and own the mc6000 (which I love and wouldn’t swap for another). However, I would buy the s2 at that price. You get a great controller with everything you will need and a full version of traktor (will cost extra with denon). Look at the blog for phil’s review which will tell you everything you need to know about s2. Pay for the dj tips dj course to fast track your learning. Buying the s2 will help decide if djing is for you and if not you have spent half the cash. Kev

ParticipantChoosing a controller is a mine field! This us what I suggest:
1. Read 2012 controller guide which is available from the dj tips Facebook page.
2. Wait for Namm this month to see what’s new. Reloop have just announced a fine looking 4 chanel controller.
3. Look at phil’s excellent in-depth reviews on dj tips website.
4. Visit DJ shop and try your shortlisted controllers. I went to bpm last year to try them all.My choice was Denon mc6000
Advantage
Solid metal unit with fab build quality
All the inputs and outputs you could ever need
Stand alone mixer
Top notch pro gear
You can grow with controller
I love itDisadvantages
Not easy to throw into a backpack
Some with fat fingers consider it cramped but I have no issuesOf the three you mention, I would go with ns6, good layout with fantastic jogs. Disadvantage with all are they are all large controllers.
There are many good articles on the dj tips website to help with iTunes.
Happy controller buying!!!
Of the three you mention, I prefer ns6 because well spaced out layout, great jogs

ParticipantBuy the digital tips dj course. It will help take the mystery and guess work out of djing. It’s much easier to watch and listen than someone try to explain in words.

ParticipantJust bought sony v700 for £62. Nice headphones, good sound and comfortable on my big head.

ParticipantI have just bought Samson a8 for £179. They are a little big but I shouldn’t have expected anything different with 8″ speakers. They have 75 watt low power + 25 watt low power, separate amps and every connection you could ever need. Impressive sound especially considering the price.

ParticipantTake a look at the controller review on the blog, it will help you make up your mind. If money is an issue then it has to be the mixtrack pro. It gets 5 stars in the review and it’s a well loved machine that was the starting point for many dj’s. It’s reasonably cheap and it won’t break the bank if you decide djing is not for you. If you don’t mind not having jogs and can double your outlay, I think the twitch is a lovely piece of kit plus you don’t need to buy software because it’s free. At the top end I love my denon mc6000. If there’s a dj shop near you why not go and test them? Good luck with your choice, I know it’s a tough decision which took me over a year.

ParticipantDo you own all the kit already? If not just buy a 4 Chanel controller. There is now a firmware update on denon site to access the sample decks in traktor pro 2 using a mc6000. You would. Only be paying £670 for the mc6000 compared to £900 to £1000 for the options above.

ParticipantDenon mc6000 for me. Solid piece of kit with all the input connections you could ever need.

ParticipantI didn’t try the mc3000 simply because I found the mc6000 for £535 from http://www.cleverboxes.co.uk. This was only £35 more than mc3000. I did try many controllers at bpm and narrowed my choice to vertax, reloop and denon because I liked the build quality of all. I believe however I made the right choice with the denon which will last me a few years

ParticipantI considered the xD zone, it’s a good price £499, doesn’t need additional software purchase because uses serato but I didn’t like the jogs. Finally went with denon mc6000 and I love it. It’s not as portable as some but so solid and great build quality. it’s got every connection you will ever need, buttons galore, two mic inputs and good jogs. Some complain about it being cramped but it’s ok for my fingers. Denon have issued a firmware update to be able to use the sample decks in traktor pro 2. It’s still well worthy of phil’s 5 star rating and I am a big fan!!

ParticipantPhil, thanks for feeling sorry for me and commenting! I have now bought because they were on offer for £178. Initial reaction is they are a solid piece of kit, each speaker has its own amp and 75 + 25 watt of power. They are larger than I expected but should have know that 8in speakers would need a big cabinet. I will give them a go with my new Denon mc6000 when I get some time but should mean it’s party time in the Williams household.
