MemberI got Maschine Mikro and I think it’s the best bit of kit I’ve ever bought. There are so many sounds in there; I use it to write whole songs with. I’ve also used it as a Traktor controller and it works well (I assigned the pads to cues and you can tap out rhythms using tracks loaded in to a deck). However, I bought it as a production tool first and foremost as I think that’s what it’s best for, if you were using it primarily as a controller, I’d look for something cheaper.
It’s also worth mentioning that if you’re using Traktor 2.5 the only controller that will work with the remix deck is the Kontrol F1, there is no midi implementation for other controllers yet, (but the new Maschine has coloured pads like the F1, so maybe this will change). I was pretty bummed about this as I was hoping to assign the Maschine pads to fire the loops, one shots, etc

MemberIf Ableton is working for you stick with it. To me it seems odd to switch to Traktor just because everyone else is. However you can download a demo of Traktor, so take it for a test drive and see what you think. Being a traktor user myself I find it impossible to DJ using Ableton, as it doesn’t suit my needs, but that’s just me.

MemberThis is how I use Traktor as well. Put Traktor in external mode, route decks a-d to channels 1-4 on the mixer, and a pair of X-1’s controlling loops, fx, etc and away you go. If you’ve got all four decks running (if you’re using traktor why wouldn’t you?) there is no time or need to fanny about beatmatching with jog wheels. Your time and skills are better used remixing and mashing up your tracks.
