I appreciate both of you for trying to help, what I have found is that when I follow these exact steps on my other computer (Dell Inspiron One) I can get it to work. What I believe is that because my laptop has Beats audio integrated, it messes up with the sound settings and makes the mono sound ‘leak’, as when I go into Playback devices > Properties, there is no ‘enhancements’ option, whereas on my other computer when I do the same there is one, from where I disable all sound effects to get it to work. Therefore, unless my assumptions are incorrect, the Beats audio feature is not allowing me to get it to work fully.
