No place like it, I haven’t been slacking though, I’ve been doing the occasional mix here and there (my love for dubstep won’t die anytime soon), with videos too.
I’m not as good as the poster, but hey, we all progress at our own pace.

MemberFortunately, my laptop has a USB 3.0 and 2.0 port. I run an S4 Midi Fighter Pro, and the F1, and I found out the hard way that the S4 doesn’t like USB 3.0, as it did blue screen.
What’s worked for me is simply hooking up a USB 2.0 hub to the 3.0 port. Problem solved. ^_^

MemberI haven’t been here in awhile, due to too much work, and not enough play…and I come back to check out what folks have been up to.
This sir, is awesome, for a year in. Keep at it. ^_^

MemberStill practicing in my own room, but for right now, it’s house and dubstep. I’m trying to branch out and do other genres, but it’ll come to me with time. ^_^

MemberAnd while we’re on the subject…not to bash Mac users…but I can’t do it, I’d rather just save the 1000 or so extra bucks I’d pay for the glowing apple and deck my laptop out with some crazy stickers 😀
And get a few more musical toys.

Aside from the hard drive (as recordings in .wav format can eat up space rather quickly), but i’d say you’re golden in the performance standards. Now as far as using it as an everyday machine too…me personally, I’d have one dedicated just for music.
I’ve got a desktop for everyday things, the laptop only has Traktor Pro 2 and iTunes on it. Having a dedicated machine cuts down on all the background processes running due to added applications that love to auto-run and then install themselves as services at times.
For those kinda specs, you won’t really notice it all too well, but the less that’s running, the least amount of points of failure you have.
Sorry, I’m an IT guy too. ^_^

MemberVery little is needed for most DJ programs these days….
I’m running an i3, 7 Home Premium, 4 gigs of RAM, I paid 400. No sorta hiccups or spikes whatsoever, and sometimes I forget to turn the wi-fi off, lol.The hard drive is the weakest link @ 320 gigs….but that’s an easy and inexpensive upgrade, or just run from an external if you don’t wanna muck around with swapping out parts.

MemberI haven’t used the S2, but I have it’s big brother, the S4, and it’s definitely worth the purchase, save the money if you can.
You can learn on an advanced kit the same things you can learn on an intro kit, the only difference is you’ve invested money to ensure that when your skill increases, you don’t have to go and buy new gear to complement that, you’ve already got the hardware in front of you that is only matched by your imagination.Hats off to ya though for using Traktor with a keyboard and mouse, I couldn’t do it LOL

MemberThank ya much dude ^_^

MemberFrom all the reviews I see, the Xponent seems to be good.
From what I can personally see on the unit itself, it’s got good features; cue points, loops, EQ kills, FX…I guess it’s weak point is the software. If you could map it to Traktor (which I’m very sure people have done and released mappings for it), you’d be starting off pretty nice. ^_^

MemberI say figure out what you wanna do more, and then work from there. I myself wanted to mix music, but also toss in some controllerism and flair to songs, so I got a controller (Traktor S4), and a Midi Fighter…$1,000 and $200, so waaaaaay above your price range, lol.
If you’re gonna get any decent controller, you may end up paying a bit more than what your budget currently is, so I’d say save if possible. The launchpad itself is more useful with Ableton versus any of the more traditional DJing software out there (Serato, Traktor Pro, VDJ, etc..), so if you wanna mix music, look strictly at controllers.

Adding tracklist now, thanks for the advice. ^_^

MemberNow that I think about it, I kinda wanna re-up that one in particular, just to iron out the kinks…

Memberalso, for the first transition, you mean the transition from 4 AM radio edit to Soma? Because there’s a transition before that, I used the first few bars for the 4 AM dub to lead into the radio edit.
