That has yet to happen to me, but on the other hand I do try to make it a habit of logging in at least once a week, so I can’t say too much about that.

MemberIf the SoundCloud user enabled the download button, feel free to legally download it! SoundCloud’s default option when uploading new tracks is to disable the download option, so it (usually!) isn’t a mistake when the download button is enabled!

MemberI listen to a bunch of EDM on my iPod/phone/laptop when on the go, and write down songs that would go well together as a text message draft on my phone. Like Phil, I upload my music to a cloud server (Mediafire for me!) so I know I can have it easily accessible in case anything happens! I try to search for new tracks on a daily basis in between school and work, something I wouldn’t be able to do if digital crate-digging didn’t exist!

MemberI’ve seen this done before, as I used to be in a DJ and play live analog synths in one band, and I used to be a guitarist/bassist/vocalist in another. I used Ableton Live more than anything when I was in the first band to play stems that the band started songs with, rather than really “DJing” with other programs such as Serato or Traktor. I’d occasionally throw in a scratch track and apply effects as needed to keep each set with the band interesting as well.
It’s completely different than playing solo at a club, as you’re not the only person providing the music, the other members of the band are as well. In my experience, the drummer and the DJ in the band provide the backbone by setting the tempo of each song. The most important thing you have to be careful about the most whilst performing in a band is rehearsing with others to ensure your timing is 100% down.
I personally miss playing with other people, as I left the one band due to personal tastes, and the other because of a desire to pursue a personal career.

MemberDon’t bother upsampling bitrates/samplerates, it’s pointless, as you aren’t making them of any better quality. I suggest using a different program for your radio show.

MemberWhen it comes to DJing, it depends on what equipment is available for me at the venue. If there are CDJs, I’ll use those, if not, I’ll stick to my controller with 320s. But when it comes to listening for sheer enjoyment, you can’t beat a good old-fashioned vinyl record, in my opinion.

Haha, my mistake!
Justin
MemberI’ve also found a glitch as well, I’m using Google Chrome on OS X, and I get the following:

I’m wondering if anyone else gets this glitch as well?

MemberDubstep is usually between 140 to 150 BPM. You create the signature “wobble bass” by routing an LFO to the envelope of one or more of your oscillators, which is then synced to the BPM of the song. In Native Instruments’ Massive, you can sync the LFO so that it “wobbles” on whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes, etc. Which oscillators you should use, however, is completely up to you 🙂

MemberDepends on the gig, I usually wear a pair of sneakers, jeans, and a band t-shirt, but lately I’ve found myself wearing a collared shirt over my band shirt.

MemberEmma: Thank you for your feedback! I think it would be a trance track if it were at a higher bpm though
Fxn-L: Thank you!! hahaJustin
MemberSteve personally sent me a direct message on twitter claiming that he wasn’t “faking” it, but I personally don’t buy it. Coming from somebody who sampled a whole melody (VFH2 128BPM Capone Melody 1, specifically) to create a track, I have very little to no respect for him. But that’s just my personal opinion.

MemberI don’t own a Mixtrack Pro, but I do own the original. I’ve used it on both PC and Mac, and it runs flawlessly on both! You should be fine on either operating system.

MemberWhen making sub-bass, keep in mind that anything under 30Hz is bass that you can literally feel! I enjoy making my own sub-bass with Massive’s sine waves, with LFO’s on my envelopes. Pitch it down to about -32 octaves, add a couple filters, and boom, instant sub-bass!
