Ok I guess I can live without IR sensor, battery indicator, standby indicator (nice to have though). As mentioned I can purchase the external memory and adapters for FireWire,Ethernet, and a disk drive so I’ll be good with that, my only concern is what about the 2.9ghz i7 vs the 2.7ghz i5?

Thanks for replying guys and excuse me for posting it on the wrong forum. I did some research so let me clarify my intended use here is my dilemma especially they all cost around the same,I really don’t want to spend more than $1500.

I don’t care about portability or weight. I will use it everyday to listen and download music, web surfing and watch videos (YouTube) store photos and videos (festivals I attend mainly) I don’t plan to produce music, I want to master the art of djing first, I’ll be buying traktor s2 to start. Which one is best for me and why?

    2012 MBP non-retina 2.9ghz i7,8gb,500gb ATA drive $1350
    2015 MBP retina 2.7ghz i5, 8gb,128gb flash storage $1300
    2015 MBA 2.2 ghz i7,8gb,128gb flash storage $1250
    The 2012 has FireWire port,Ethernet port,disk drive(removable),memory upgradable to ssd,infrared sensor for remote,battery indicator,standby indicator.
The 2015 has Retina display, hdmi port, extra thunderbolt 2.0 port, iris graphics 6100,dual mic, longer battery life.

I don’t have any music yet so it’ll take me a while to fill it up I suppose.
All my vids and photos I guess I can store with an external memory if I were to get the MBA or MBPr.

As you can tell I am extremely confused.
