ParticipantIMO you should know at least the basics of the different genres as a DJ. A DJ who doesn’t know the difference between electro and techno can’t be taken seriously. I can help you out with some basic genre knowledge if you want. This website should also give you a start: http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/

ParticipantHi, I’ve listened to your set and I liked it! It starts out with some nice groovy minimal and later on it’s a little more liek progressive house. The variation in your set keeps it interesting. Maybe sometimes there is a bit to much variation, hereby some transitions are a bit hard. But overall your mixing technique is solid.
I also like your maschine. I’d love to have my own some day 😉 The maschine always gives an extra layer of depth to a DJ set. Also keep up the good work with the vinyl! The combination of the vinyl with your digital equipment leads to an interesting setup.
Greets!

ParticipantHi man, thnx for listening and your feedback! The repetitive aspect of my set is part of my general style and music taste. I use a lot of different loops together instead of just playing 2 songs after another. This mixing style allow me to have greater control of the energy level. But I will experiment a bit by adding some more synths to my sets. I’ll try to find the right balance. Vocals aren’t really my thing though. 😉
I will definitely listen to your set and I’ll post some feedback in your thread!

ParticipantI never prepare my sets. Track selection should depend on the situation and the crowd.

ParticipantThnx man! I will keep working to get it perfect 😉

ParticipantThank you for your feedback, really appreciate it! The reason I didn’t include a tracklist is in the nature of my mixing style. I don’t mix songs the normal way. I only use loops throughout the whole set, wich allow me to create my own sounds by layering the different elements on top of each other. All the breaks you hear are created by myself using fx’s and filters. So because I used about 30 different loops, even I will have a hard time figuring out the tracklist 😉
Thnx again for your reply and keep on going with your in depth reviews, really helpfull!
